Suggestions fo 1.5 din hea unit
Wednesday, March 30, 2011 6:18 PM
Id like to replace my factory head unit. I have a factory red interior so I really don't want to cut it at all.

My requirements...

Fit in 1996 sunfire dash without mounting kit or visible cutting
Ability to maintain factory steering wheel controls
Red display would be a definate plus.

Thanks for your input

Off the top of my head, nothing of good substance in the factory size. Why are u so against a single din?

Also, howabout a budget and some requirements for actual features?

I just really like the way my factory unit look in the g6 and envoy, very clean. The cavy is a little too old to have any features I like.

I don't really have any requirements, I switch phones too frequently to really worry about connectivity in that way.

3 pre amp outs, touch screen, am/fm radio, cd/mp3.

I don't want anything crazy, just nice sound on the few days I put the car on the road. I'd like to keep the head unit under $500.

I really don't think you're going to find one exactly the same size as stock... but if I remember right, won't the Sunfire dash allow a double-din head unit without cutting the dash up? I thought there was talk of that once.
