Running at 16volts, ecu electronics etc...
Monday, April 04, 2011 8:23 PM
Anyone successfully ran 16 volts on their ecu, headlights, etc? I've read of people running it on their silverado's, tahoe's, suburbans and such but can't find anyone doing it with a cavalier or sunfire.

ECUs don't like it. What's the need for a 16 volt system?

You can use an MLA module to boost your voltage a bit higher, around 15v or so.

Most running 16v on a system have it on a separate electrical circuit than the PCM and factory bits.

16 volt batteries need your alternator to run at 18+ volts. Not healthy for the rest of the electrical.

I swear I saw some batteries that ran at 16 volts and had a separate terminal to run your 12v stuff off of..

also Powermaster makes step down boxes.

about the MLA... they are VERY easy to make for our cars. I made one that can be turned on or off, and when its on i have a knob inside the car to raise the voltage up to 21v. not that i ever went over 16v

Forgot I even posted this, I do believe I will be running a stepdown and "mla" module. Did you just use an adjustable resistor to make the knob?
