I finally got a sub in my car, nothing special, not trying to rattle my car apart or piss of the neighbors, Just enough to support my mids and highs. The setup came from my buddy that upgraded to a MTX square... Setup includes 1 12 inch Lanzar Vibe sub, Planet audio 1000 watt amp, in a walmart sealed box, All for the low low price of F-R-E-E
It doesn't sound that bad most of the time but I know the box is where its lacking. I'm really not sure where to start with this, I know wiring and everything, install is easy, but I haven't ever dealt with building a box, not a good one anyway. I need a good place to start, I haven't been able to find the specs on the sub yet, Not sure on what the displacement should be, or weather or not to be sealed or ported. Another issue I have is I can only fit a box 14" high in my trunk to clear the strut tower brace, I'd like to keep it up under there to keep some room in the back for cargo and whatnot...
Any help & advice would be appreciated, Thanks!
Its a Lanzar vibe VW124. I have looked around online but not even the lanzar site has info on displacement or anything. I know Lanzar is pretty low on the list of brands to buy, but this one is free so I might as well use it. I'm thinking of building a box to spec for a better sub, mtx, alpine, kicker, something like that. and just run the lanzar till I can buy said new sub. I don't expect the lanzar to last forever...
