Is it possible that one of the touchscreen units fit in a cavalier? I have the base model stereo with a CD player. I know I'll need a soutch adaptor but I would like an aftermarket radio that's the same size as the stock radio, only that it's fancier and has touchscreen.
If you mean like this one, then yes. should go right in with a double din adapter (AKA install kit).

That is the EXACT one I'm looking for...if you don't mind, what's the model of that radio and which adaptor? The adaptors I seen, there's like 10 different ones, between 4.99-14.99 and it's all for GM cars, aka cavaliers. Just don't know which one to get. And that radio is the same size as the stock right? Sorry for all the questions, just curious hah
I'm using a non on start wiring kit with door chimes and a double din install kit
I have the clarion nx702

its fine, its a pioneer somthing or nother (Googleing.....) AVH-P1400DVD
The adapter i have is ok, i don't remember which one it is.
It is whats called a double din, radios come in single and double din. (most of the time) its not the same exact size, that's kinda why you need the adapter insert but there is no cutting to do if you have a cavalier. Sunfire have some trouble because of depth issues.
As long as the adapter is a "GM (Year range that applies to you) Double Din" then it should work fine
Also a review on my head unit
It works great with allot of sound options to make about any speakers sound decent
the only thing i have is that the flash drive slot takes a little long to load up on it (about 45 sec)
Hope this helps
So if I plug my iPhone into the radio, it would take 45 seconds to load?
i think it all depends on how much music is on it. its more like 20 sec. its not instant like a CD but its not an issue at all.
I ended up not getting a touchscreen one because they're so expensive..
i have a sony XAV-64BT in mine. f**king love this thing. i have about 500 songs and a tiny usb plugged into the front and it loads and starts playing faster than it takes to load my cds. i highly recommend it and it also has tons of audio adjustments and internal crossovers.
They make 1.5 din touch screen radios. I believe that's what the factory CD player is, 1.5 din
I have a '96 sunfire and i attempted to install a double din. long story short it ended with bloody knuckles and a lot of cursing and wasted time, theirs this stupid back plate behind the radio that even with a single din HU without a cd player (considerably shorter) it gets a little tight back there. yall cav owners are friggin lucky.
There's not enough clearance for the shift knob on a cavalier without any mods for a flip out deck
