I've been working on putting in a full stereo in a 2000 cavalier: head unit, speakers, amp and subs. I had it all set and ready to go and whenever I turned it on, no sound. head unit powers on just fine. I had to run my own accessory wire. I've searched in the trunk and cannot find a factory amp anywhere. I've even plugged up the stock head unit and even it doesn't have sound. when either head unit powers up I hear static in the speakers for a quick second I know they are hooked up right. I am completely out of ideas.
are you running your door speakers on an amp? or just your sub? if no amp for the door speakers you could try pulling a speaker out of the door and pulling out the deck so its plugged in but you can see the wires. located the speaker wires and start connecting them to the one speaker turning the car on and off each time to see if the deck does send out a signal through them. if not, depending on the deck you have, there is usually a sub rca out and a speaker rca out that you will have to get an amp and wire it all off that.
Probably wired the amp wire to the power antenna wire or vise versa. Both are blue wires in the install harness one just has a white line on it. I would check that it's probably shutting the amp off or putting it in safe mode.
