So seeing as how I have an extra instrument cluster that was replaced and now the replacement one is going bad I figured I'd attempt to play Frankenstein with my extra cluster.

I scoured ebay for stepper motors, blue leds and what I came across was a ton of crap. Not literal crap but several variations of leds and such. Would anyone who has more experience with tinkering with clusters happen to know if these are the right motors/leds

I am confident in my abilities to do this, I just don't know much about these parts in particular so I don't want to buy the wrong sized leds or motors that won't fit. Sure I could spend $140 maybe $100 on an 02-04 cluster with blue leds but I figured if I could spend $30 on the parts and use an old cluster that still works with the same needles not reading accurately/moving I'd give it a whirl. Worst case I'm out an extra cluster and maybe $30 bucks.

So if I am correct in assuming it's as simple as pop out old leds/stepper motors and pop in news then reconnect to dash then I am game. So yeah, shower me with the knowledge I seek guys. Thanks

Yea any info would be great. I would like to do mine eventually too. Sorry to thread Jack but any info on fixing the odemeter would be helpful as well. Are stepper motors what controls the needles? How are the bulbs changed as well.
