So Im wokring on the exaust for the fire, and The turbo setup. Now from what I read its BEST to run 2.5" to 3" exaust on a Turbo'd J, Now This includes the Downpipe. I was wondering where I can find bolt-on downpipes, Or If anyone has a custom one they made, and a Pic of how its routed, with the Fan, Starter, and Alt braket there theres not much room for a 3" downpipe. Also Where do you get 3" Flex Fittings?
thanks much!
Your going to have to custom make your downpipe.
You can get the flex pipe from Vibrant Performance I do believe.
you can get stainless steel flex pipes from exhaustdepot.com, that's where my 2 1/4 came from. probably ebay too.
You shouldn't really need a flexpipe if you run stiff motor mounts. I haven't had one for years now. And for your downpipe, you're probably going to end up on the "custom" route with that one unless you buy a turbo "kit."

no deal, I LOVE my downpipe......
GET YOUR OWN
3.5" catback is large.... too large for your sunfire........
maybe for a 1000WHP MR2 or something
not for your fire...
I am running solid engine mounts with NO flexpipe at all, the exhaust doesn't move, and either does the engine, so I don't get vibrating on the exhaust or anything.
get some polyurethane engine mounts and tranny mounts, run you around 130 for all......
Install those and forget about a flexpipe, run a 2.5" mandrel Downpipe like mine, and a 3" downpipe back exhaust system, you WILL be happy with the results..... I PROMISE

Agreed...WAY too large and all you're gonna do is waste money. 3" is more than sufficient for all the horsepower you'd ever get out of that motor.

ya I can not stress the word WAY......
like 3.5" is so big it might not even fit in the exhaust crevice for your car...
like 3.5" is HUGE...

You mean dont get this 3.5" catback:
A little late on that, I know I dont NEED more than 3" but I want 3.5", Call me rice but I like the Deep rolling smooth sound that I get from it.
And Yes, Its fits, and I lay engine mounts and NOT the exaust, so no problems there.
I don't think that's going to be 'deep' and 'rolling' on your 2200 lol. More like 'popping'

better a delay than a disaster.
I'm confused....you're running an exhaust with no bends? then how are you laying mounts if that isn't laying in the channel for the exhaust?!

You need bends in the exhaust to fit in the channel..... like so ........
Mines really close to the ground, well it doesn't hit, but I do have to drive slow over certain things.....

Thats the most beautifull setup on a 2.2 ohv i have ever seen! *tear tear*
Yes there are bends, I hadent added the "Z" to go from the center channel around the tank in that pic, its just 2 90* mandrels and a straight piece about 10" long
Now my NEXT question is Where did you route the Charge Pipe from the Turbo to the pass side of the Intercooler?
I have the charge line from the output on the intercooler to the TB solved, And I THINK theTurbo to FMIC solved but I want to see whats most common.
^^^Damn that is a big turbo! I wanna hump it!

there isn't..... MOST common...... everyones set up is a little different.........
here is mine..... which is not common..... although ken2.2 might have something to say about that .....
here ya go.
thats the entire intercooler set up behind the stock bumper.........
hope that gives you some ideas......
