what is ur opinion???

hey guys,

ok its finally happening, i am getting rid of my rsm blower and going turbo. dont get me wrong, im gunna miss the vortech but i want more boost. now that i got the rebuild done last winter, she is ready for a nice turbo. here is my situation: i found a jtuners manifold on ebay and purchased it because i like the design much more than alot of the others i have seen "thick flange, jet-hot coating." idealy i would have liked a really nice tubular manifold for my setup but i dont have the time, equipment, or money to make one that is actually nice. i have seen a few that guys have made on here but i dont agree with how un-equal the tubes are and the overall location of the turbo when its all said and done with. as i was saying, here are my plans: i did my rebuild and did it right. put wiseco forged pistons in "8.5:1 compression" and some eagle rods, about 20 hours of porting on my head, stainless valves, and put the "HO" cams in. i am aiming at hitting 15lbs of boost. my problem is the jtuners manifold is not made with a external wastegate hookup. my main concern is running that much boost with an internal gate. i have had about the same amount of people tell me that it can and cant be done being internally gated. however a few people i have talked to have brought up a good point. a company is not going to sell an internally gated turbo that will not supposed to do what its supposed to. i am gunna try to find a turbo that is optimal for my setup that has a wastegate spring closest to 15lb pressure spring so its not hell on the boost controller "im am running a greddy electronic controler." basically i really dont want to have to run an external gate unless i absolutely have to. first of all the money, and sencond there is not enough room as it is under the hood of my 96 jbody. so overall here is what im asking opinions about: ok i know that external wastegates are much better in higher boost applications and they are much more reliable and work much better, however do you think that i can run 15lbs of boost or more "with high octane" efficiently with the right internally gated turbo? i really think that i will be able to do it but just thought i would see how many people have faith in me haha. please be senseable in your answers and be aware that im not a newby or something that doesnt know what he's talking about. just thought i would post a topic to start a new conversation. i cant wait to feel the car with the turbo and its getting the boost it deserves. thanks again guys....

As long as you are in the effiency range of the turbo, you should be good to go, I used a nissan 300zx internally gated turbo and it had boost spiking problems around 10psi...
