I would like to know what is recommended to get my STOCK 2.4 head ready for boost. I'm leaning towards SS valves and stopping there. I've also got the not so secret cams but thats not really part of this question. I mention the cams because they have a higher lift. Would it be a good idea to change springs? I got the bottom end built "to the titties" but I'm only interested in upgrading what is required for the head. I dont want to sound lazy, I just want to spend the money in the right place and I don't think dumping money in the top will much matter in a high boost motor. - Please correct me if I'm wrong.
For those 086 fans....I decided to forgo this swap because I just didn't feel like trying to get my compression back down really low for the boost.
a good Port and polish will be what will give you the best gains for boost... nothing really has to be built up to handle it.. its more just alowing it to flow better... i would say go
-port/polish
-cams grinded for your boost application (JBodyPerformance.com would be a good bet for this)
- depending on your lift on the cams you might want stiffer valve springs
and that right there would be a pretty decent set up for boost...
but again it also depends on what you want out of your car.. if your just doing 8-10psi range i wouldnt bother doing any thing to your head...
The First Twin Charged jbody
blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
Well to be truthful, you don't HAVE to do anything to your head to boost it. If you want to work your head, that's a different story.
If you're going to upgrade it, might as well change everything. Possibly oversized valves if you want to go that route, if not SS Valves (stock sized) would be fine and upgrade the retainers & springs as well.
If you're worried about your camshafts, contact JBP (Jbody Performance) about getting a special F/I cam grind.
You say you have the bottom end built already or you have the parts to do so just not installed?

Good idea (in my opinion).
