On the new cobalt ss they come supercharged stock question is its the gm supercharger correct that everyone talks about? or is it a different set up. and basically if i just took a newer ecotec engine and but the gm sc on it it would be a cobalt ss engine relatively speaking correct?
The Charger on the SS Cobalts is the same charger that GM is offering in the new 2.2 ECOTEC supercharger package. Yes, you can put it on your motor, look up Airtronics, he put it on his 2.2 ECOTEC.
Only difference would be that they have a 2.0 ECOTEC running 9:1 compression, we have a 2.2 ECOTEC running 10:1 compression...so relatively speaking, we don't have the same motor by internal specs but we do have the same motor.

I see where gm guy is going, lol, he wants to take eco motors, put the charger on them and sell them as cobalt ss motors...
no no not even i could not do that considering that a new ss motor would have way more miles than an ecotec different wiring harness etc. i found basically a shell of an ss is why but with rear damage but with engine already pulled and im trying to maybe get it back to original (or as close to as i can) becuase junkyard will give it to me if i sell a few more parts. Why sell something that really isn't what it is. Im not you.
ahh settle down gm__guy, I'm just pulling your chain. You have been pushing to sell motors and trannys pretty hard lately, and the prices arent all that great. I can get a 4t40e tranny at the highest priced junkyard around here for like 325 bucks.
The 2.0SC motor has lower compression (already covered,) lower displacement (easier to rev) and it has oil squirters on the bottoms of the pistons to run lower cylinder temperatures to induce less risk of detonation. All around better for boost...
