I heard from my dealer which has been in contact with GM regarding my no A/C problem that about 300 kits were sold to this day.
Strangely from this group I'm the only one who had the base model no A/C sunfire lol.

Well unfortunately I didn't know you can do that, and besides when they called me they had already installed the used compressor with the belt that came with the kit...

i still find it odd yours had no a/c
maybe its just a canadian thing
i think there was one year (03-05) where gm offered a really basic package, that included no a/c and no abs (seeing as abs was "standard" for around 10 years)

^^ must've been 2004, cuz I have neither A/C nor ABS, cruise control or any of that useless stuff
...
and to 97cavie yes it might be a canadian thing, it would not be the first time they do things differently...

Weird that you don't have a/c. I have the basest of base sunfire's and even I have a/c. I guess it is a canadian thing.
I have a base too, i have a/c, but no abs. I want the eco charger!

I know of a couple 04-05cavs on here with the 1sv option. Their J's were always quicker because of so much weight lose.
Also, from what I heard on a certain GM Employee website, they said the 1SV option started because of them starting to get rid of the J-body platform and for the last year of production they tried to save as much money as possible while still getting a driveable car out the plant.

The 1SV is the stuff, my car weighs about 100lbs less then many comparabel vehicles. I, however, am adding cruise to my car, just gotta get the wiring done, have the module, switch, and cable.
Glad to see the eco charger getting some movement, but sold versus installed would be a nice thing to track. one of the dealerships here that is a performance dealer has two in hte store room.
300 sold, only one polished!!!

polished isnt bad
it is when they are coated with something they will keep alot more heat in
i dunno about the jbodys but i know you can get the solstices without ac, that sucks though i think, id be thinking about selling it in the future without ac, alotta people probally would turn away, just my opinion on that one.

If you would like I can send you links to the research I had to do to determine that there is a minimalistin increase in "heat soak" for a polished unit over the OEM cast finish. There is a small loss in surface area, but as the units are aftercooled capable the minimal increase is thereby negated.
then why is there like 6 ppl on here with them?

^^Not all of them troll the org bragging about their cavy with a supercharger.
lol, it's funny how we sometimes think that everything related to jbodys go through here and if it was not done here it couldn't be done anywhere else...

you would be AMAZED how many cav enthusiasts/owners don't even know this forum exists... I'm stopped and talked to a couple of owners since my involvement with the jersey j's, and a lot of really nicely done cavs/sunfires are out there but not members of the .org, or even aware of its existence... how, i don't know, you type Cavalier into any search engine and the .org is normally right after Chevrolet.com... but it DOES happen, quite frequently.

there's something so large about the number 300 that i just dont understand. are you sure he didn't mean 300 in terms of kits, and the stage 1 and 2's all together?

they were definitely talking about the same kit as I bought. Of course the best thing to do if you want to know for sure would be to call GM performance parts.
BTW this @!#$ moves ! I'm not half as loud as my friend's type r teg, but I'm pretty sure I'd have no problem beating him in a race... we're going to the track very soon...

A/C was standard in the USA... not in Canada. It was an expensive option. Most 03-05 cars up here don't have it.
