hi,
I race my car yesterday at the track and inbetween runs I opened my hood and noticed that on the mid-right side there was this:

is it supposed to be empty, that little screw hole ?
I'm probably just being paranoid... I know airtonics has something attached to it as seen from his website, but I think it was because he didn't install it strictly like a dealer would...

don't worry about it, it doesn't go through to open air, its just where the screw for the IAT sensor goes on the Cobalt SS. But if you want to make doubly sure, just spray some carb cleaner on it while the engine is running.... if the motor stumbles, then you've got a leak. I don't think you'll have any problem though.

actually they didnt do it right
lol
easy fix though , take a hammer and tap the plug flush with the hole , you might want to pull the tb off and make sure no aluminum pieces get into the s/c
if that plug fails out youll have a nice vacuum leak
they should have given you the CD with the install instructions , load it in your computer , and go through the pages , tell you see a picture of that area , with the plug
if they didnt give you the CD , go back and bitch tell they do , its just a generic cdr , so you know what to look for
if they didnt and wont give you the instructions , pm or im me with your email address , and ill try and send you a copy of them , via email
make sure you got room for it , in your in box the file is 12mb , and usually gives my gmail account a fit when i send it
also the instructions are different from the 1's GM put about a year ago with the rest of the eco build book

Bingo, its an expansion plug....its supposed to be flush, or you can go order a sensor from the cobalt if you dont want that to be permanent...

sunfire gt , doing that you gotta be carefull
i can tell you the 02's do not alot of hood clearence , since the 1 im using came from a redline , it scratched the underside of the hood
i didnt want to use the expansion plug that is in the kit (they give you 2) , i plan on getting the s/c polished and wanted to get the hole welded , and the hole stand ground off , and smoothed , so i didnt see a point in making more work
actually 97cavie that's a picture of the GM build book
, I didn't take the time to take a picture of mine. Mine IS flush. I was more inquiring about the screw hole in which it seems the cobalt ss IAT sensor goes... so where should be MY IAT sensor ?
brandoson, don't know how I ran, since it was heads up races and no time slips on a 1/8 mile track. Will go to a quarter mile track in a few weeks...
