Tuesday, June 27, 2006 9:15 PM
Ok so right now im saving up for my turbo kit.. im getting a Hahn Racecraft turbo kit and im going with a stage 1 for the time being, im jsut curious as to what other parts some of you would recomend on after? (Ive spoken with the people at Hahn and they say that the Ln2 turbo kit will work perfectly fine with my stock motor) But i want to know if there is anything i should replace before i go and strap on this turbo. I would just continue to save and buy a stage 2, one that is intercooled.

I gotta agree on this. Stage 2 is def the way to go. I always recommend it to anyone who wants a kit.

I would recommend not buying stage two and just doing your own intercooler set up. It could easily be done for 300-400. Thats saving some pretty big money.

Doing it yourself requires fabrication skills though. Not a lot of people can fabricate mounts for the IC and then custom make tubing for it too. The HRC kit comes ready to install right off the UPS truck.

This is true, but my diy attitude sometimes tends to come out in my posts. If there was a way for me to save a bunch of money and still maintain quality by doing it myself, I would surely try. I realize thats not the way everybody does things tho, but what can I say...I'm a broke ass college student. lol

one piece of advice you MUST NOT OVER LOOK..............

I know first hand.... the 2200 ln2 loves boost....... but in general

colder intake air temps will prolong the life of your engine....................... I'd feel really bad about overlooking an intercooler set up if my motor were to blow because of high IAT's...........

intercooler set ups are so under rated.........

an example..... a friend of mine.... same turbo, same manifold, same injectors, same motor..............

blew up in 2 months.......... non-intercooled............ 5psi of boost........ say bye bye to piston ringlands...........

my car......

going strong for a year and a half............. intercooled....... 10psi.......or more if I want.............. say bye bye to 350z....................

see the difference........

thought so......

lesson of the day...... give hypsy a call..... purchase a stage 2......... and be done with it.......

thats my .02 cents..... that could save you a grand in the future.......................

oh and stuff to get after turbo is in.........................................

3" exhaust, big bore throttle body, pullies, suspension, etc.................

before the turbo.....

switch to synthetic oil .... (I did, and I'm happy I did)

change all your fluids (just to be safe) (I did)

put your cooling fan on a switch as the car will run hot with the turbo bolted up..... (being less then 3" from the rad doesn't help)....

I put in a new stock thermostat with holes drilled around the outter edge to help with cooling as well.........( I did, great help for heat too)

maybe get the manifold, turbo exhaust housing and downpipe ceramic coated (if the budget allows)..........

those are all things I ended up doing almost right after I put the turbo on............ within a week I had all those things done but the ceramic coating...............

my largest problem is my car running really hot........ It now runs 1 notch colder then it did when it was stock.......

hope all of these things help.....

Alum. rad ($300.00 +)
Stat ($15.00)
fan swtich ($5.00)
water wetter ($15.00) (additive that helps coolant keep the engine colder)
and most important...

INTERCOOLER hehehhehehe just pounding it into you ... just so you don't forget....

Anything else just ask !!

As long as I keep moving the car runs the same temps. If I'm sitting in traffic it goes up faster than normal and if I'm going slow it goes up a little above where it was before. I did the cooling fan switch and have never once regretted it.
