okay for those not familiar with my set up....
2001 2200 turbocharged......
I have 99 z24 injectors in the car ( wiring spliced for clips).....they are idling at 30psi idle pressure with AFPR..... the stock fpr is gutted out and is no longer functional
engine light is present for too rich...... (no biggie)
I have a great afr in boost 11.9 - 12.2 on my wideband...... @ 7psi
out of boost regular driving I see 14.7 - 15.3 afr on my wideband.......
when I change gears out of boost, (so no blow off valve sounds)..... the car is fine no stutter...
when I change gears at say 0psi it goes from 14.xx afr as I hear the BOV to 10.xx afr then to 17.9 or 18 and feels like it's stuttering......... if I change gears quickly I can manage to get the afr to go no leaner the 14.7 after the bov sounds........
there is no stuttering in boost or switching gears while flooring it.....
ONLY WHEN I AM DRIVING IT NORMALLY, when the BOV sounds, when I am changing gears at regular speed......
what could cause this ???

oh and with the stock injectors there is no sputtering between shifts at all period.... and no engine light for too rich................. I can keep a 12.0 AFR to 5psi of boost ..... any higher and it's too lean for me...............12.5 and higher....
let me know please... I gotta get this sorted out.

Lee.
LETS think about this. They are bigger injectors first off. With that said heres some info for ya.
The way The cartech FMU works is awesome. They designed it to start adding fuel just before it reads boost, to help eliminate the huge power drop when flooring it while boost comes up. (that way your not getting boost before your fuel causing you to run lean) So when you bring it up to 0psi thats already running rich!! hell maybe even 2HVg its rich.
So basically your getting the fuel first before the boost catches up. causing your Richness. You never noticed with the stock injectors cause they are piss. lol
Don't worry about it man. You cant have everything super smooth with an FMU. Thats why god gifted us with the HPT now.
Must be nice having fuel based on Rpms, and not boost.
ken,
that all makes lots of sense......
does it make your statement change if I tell you I don't have a cartech.............. I have a holley 4:1 adjustable......
THIS IS THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FROM HOLLEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Fuel Management unit is designed to run in conjunction with the factory fuel pressure regulator. This is the ultimate manual fuel management control unit and is installed in series with a stock regulator in the return line back to the tank. The unit increases fuel pressure in proportion to boost pressure up to a 4:1 Idle/WOT pressure ratio depending on which included adjustable disks you select. This add on upgrade is ideal to be used with aftermarket turbo and Supercharger kits that require additional fuel pressure volume as the boost pressure increases. This unit is adjustable from 20–75 PSI, offers two fuel pressure slope settings
but as far as I know an FMU is an FMU.........................
and your statement about 2HVg it being rich....... the wideband doesn't change unless I floor it in boost..... so coming up on 0psi it is still running a 14.7..... but again in boost my AFR is great....

Wow my mistake. lol
Well I know the Cartech FMU does the features I said. I am sure the holly is close to the same tho. most adjustables are.
As far as the HVG things. It was just a joke. I do know the design is to give you the Fuel first then the boost. (no lean conditions)
well I just read the product description and it says it's for turbo and supercharged engines...........
the installation guide calls it a holley supercharger riser.....
for supercharged engines.....
this would explain why I still see 14.7afr coming up on boost and while not at WOT...... see I can drive it in boost (2-3psi, not WOT) lean..... it won't raise fuel pressure unless I floor it.............. so since I noticed it happening I only enter boost flooring it.... and keep a close eye on my boost gauge while normal driving to stay OUT OF BOOST......
this makes sense now.... I think my FMU is what is causing ALLLLLL my problems...... I sold my friend my cartech (old version) so I am going to borrow it to see if it makes a diff.
Thanks Ken,
Lee
