I hate playing the what if game... but anyway...
If I was running around on the stock 5-speed PCM programming, instead of the supercharger program.... what kinds of things would happen? Would it throw specific codes or run funny or what?
I've got a 2000 2.4L... with getrag swap, so I couldn't do the 'standard' reflash where they re-assign the VCI number associated with your VIN, then reflash it...because they don't support transmission swaps... so I got the VIN from Brian's supercharged getrag, and reflashed it.... the supercharger kit is stock... nothing changed... injectors and MAP sensor that came with the kit... same pulley... etc...
I know it's a 5 speed reflash, because I don't have any of the 13 (or so) codes I was getting when the auto PCM was running the car... but I have no easy way to tell if the car is running a stock 5-speed program, or a supercharged 5-speed program....
So... how do I tell? Some of the BCJ guys are suspecting that I was running the stock 5-speed flash... not the supercharged flash... since I'm occasionally running lean code (P0171).... on Friday I detonated hard, and I think it's destroyed the ring land on piston #4... but I won't know til later when I'm off work, and have a chance to tear into the motor....

You could have someone with HP Tuners scan your computer and compare it to a stock and SC reflash.

This is scary to hear. You would have been wise to find out what your AFR was if you were in doubt. I drove my 2002 z24 5spd for 3 weeks without getting it reflashed. However I only drove it real easy because I knew that flooring it with out the reflash would make it run lean. However I do not think it would run right on the stock ecu with the 2 bar sensor in. So if it is runing good with the 2 bar sensor it prolly was reflashed.

That's why I figured, of course it's reflashed... otherwise it wouldn't run.... but now I'm hearing otherwise...
I have no idea on the AFR's... I have an EGT gauge in my header, but my old landlord threw out the downpipe (don't ask) so I never got it installed. I never hooked up the AF gauge... now I'm kicking myself for not doing at least that, since it's only three wires
The plugs always looked fine on the motor.... and the tailpipe was always nice and black, just like stock..... in fact, when I was 75% or so throttle, people behind me would see black smoke coming out.... so it was most likely rich. Compensating for a lean condition? Perhaps. I've got a brand new fuel pump in it, and the filter is recent as well... so I don't think fuel was the real issue here. New O2 sensor as well...
Sigh....
Anyway.. aside from HP Tuners... which I don't have access to. (and frankly, I'm broke... so I can't even afford to fix the f'n motor... let alone get more stuff...) I can't even limp the car to a GM dealer to check it with a Tech 2... any key signs that it WASN'T a s/c reflash? Anyone??

i ran my 00 auto with out the reflash for a couple days , and i beat the piss outta it
but ive got a wideband o2 gauge , and i was actually running better a/f ratio then after the reflash , id see high 11's low 12's before , and low 13's after
it ran better before the reflash also , just didnt idle well
id think you have the reflash , given the numbers i was seeing with mine , i ended up going to a 36lb injectors , and droping the base fuel pressure to 30 psi , and run mid 11's for afr now , i think the 30lb injectors are to small still for the s/c , more so when you do a pulley
the dealer would have to check the program # and verify with tech line that its the s/c or non-s/c program , or let shifted have the pcm
pme'd on bcj john.

Hmm... since GM can't check the PCM outta the car... I'm going to try and find someone local first that can bring a scan tool up to my place...
Or... wait until I finish fixing the engine, then baby it down to the dealer and get it checked.... it's all downhill from my place (I live at the top of a mountain... great view, crappy drive home every day...)
