Blown Ecotec

I finally got my 42# injectors installed, 9psi spring installed in my wastegate and everything tuned properly and what happeneds, BOOM a nice connecting rod right through the side of my block. I guess this ecotec was not ment to handle it.

I got it all dynod and ran the quarter mile before it went south on me and damn the numbers where awsome.

313 horse power and 13.1sec in the quarter mile

I guess I should have waited for the winter time before I upgrated the spring and stuff. I was planning on builting the engine to withstand 600hp according to the ecotec build book but I guess I will have to just start from scratch with the new engine I am having to buy now.

So anyone wanting to run 9psi or more tuned great I guess a little more money and time will actually save you some money and time, just a heads up to the lazy and cheap routed people.

you made 313 whp on 9 psi?

what was your trap speed?

these ectoecs arent meant to handle 310+ whp for very long...

I am running 10 psi tuned so some how, not to be a dick some of this is hard to swallow

you ran a 13.1 with 313 whp. Did you have traction issues are what because you should running mid 12s are lower with that much power something is up with that because i have seen cavys with like 235 whp running like high 12s so something is upwith that.

ya spinning in first and a bit in second.

The 313hp was when it boosted 12psi which is the max my intercooler could handle but went it ran the 13.1 it was only boosted at 9 psi.

ppl just dont seem to understand that GM's claim isnt false

I dont know why ppl feel the need to try to disprove it, all you end up with is broke stuff

Well ya hear on here that some people run like 17psi on all stock internals so I figured that 9psi would be safe guess not though. So I aint got a loose nut as you put it I just got a block with a flippin hole in it.

For J-cavi I have a t3-t4 stage 2 setup

suncavi was the only one that ran high boost for an EXTENDED amount of time on a stock motor.. both DJ and Josh ran i think 15-17. but they didnt have it for awhile.

i had mine up in that area as well for a few weeks. drove it hard. gave up. but that was after a year of 12psi or so

Josh ran a hard 18 psi for quite some time. And at the track ran 21 psi on race gas a few times, when he pulled the motor he saw some scarring on the pistons and that was it

I ran 17 PSI a couple of times when the air was cold. Otherwise it was 15PSI. Did 10+ for a long time too.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

yeah but for how long... plus didnt he have a megasquirt ems? that helps when you have some kind of tuning. rather then just an fmu and injectors.

t3 t4 stage two???

from turbo XS??? they dont make cavalier turbo kits? hell they dont make chevy kits.

Im starting to get suspecsious. look at the reg. your numbers dont make sense, and what the hell is a stage 2.

hahn uses mitsu turbos. and Im pretty sure there is no one who is using anything eles but t3's

but besides all that when people awnser there flange type, to what size turbo, they normally dont know what there talking about.

I guess you could call it an acusation. not ment to offend just isnt adding up for me.

edit.....just a few more things.

About This Car:
Well my car is one of the only sunfires around that have been modified. lowered 2.5 inches, 17 inch rims, 3inch full dual exhaust Lambo doors, turbo'd and load sterio.

Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:
All racing application brakes.

Stage 2 could mean a few things. To me when I read that I assume he's talking about the turbine wheel.

I have a stage 2 trim turbine too.

The turbo is made by turbo XS and by stage 2, I mean intercooled. I had a t3-t4 turbo intercooler and boosting at 9psi and peeked at 10psi. I ran it for one day and boom if that is what you wanted to know.

a.f's isnt all you have to worry about...

what was your timing at? did you have any knock? how was it "tuned"?

PSI is not relavent to horsepower....

we built a DSM that made well over 450 whp at only 7 psi....61fm...

Granted it needed a 75 shot just to spool it....and traction was unheard of...but ya.

I love how you guys disc on this guy like he's faking it or something when you guys aren't all you think you are either....

Also Brad, I would stop wasting your money on FWD, it's nothing but a waste of time and money. The 1/4 mile for a really fast FWD is nothing but a giant burn off.

Much better off to convert over to RWD or get a different car.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble.

as the volume of gas pushed goes up and volume of displacement stays the same, something has to give. its called pressure. temperature goes up with pressure as well

(p1*v1)/t1 = (p2*v2)/t2
