Ummm I wouldnt think the 18" tall part of it will work lol. If you meant to type 8" that would be better obviously.. But no, not 18 tall.

For instance, my intercooler is gonna be 24L"x9H"x3W". Good for 800 hp.

actaully it can hurt...there is such thing as to big

Re: Front Mount
Thursday, October 26, 2006 3:58 PM
but i dont see how it would hurt i mean its not pushing air into the turbo......the turbo pulls air from it...so u figure the more air the turbo has to pull the colder the turbo stays......and the colder it stays the longer it lasts

you obviously don't know how an intercooler works.

the turbo doesn't pull air from it.

let me explain here
1. a turbo charger is like a air compressor. the turbine spins from exhaust gasses which in turn, spins the compressor, PUSHING air into the engine. PSI is a term relative to resistance.
2. when air is compressed it heats up, this heat is damaging to the engine thus an intercooler should be used.
3. the intercooler is placed after the compressor, so it cools the compressed air.. having a to big intercooler will cause a loss of flow, which in turn hurts power. Its also known as a pressure drop just because PSI is a term relative to resistance

ok thnx for clearing that up

That thing will not fit no matter what you do. My IC is 10" and i had to cut most of the steel bumper in order to fit it, another 8" on top of that would be sticking up over the hood of the car.

Heres a pic of a 10" tall intercooler, good luck fitting one much taller......

yea too big is just overkill. I hate when I see like a .42 trim turbo running like 4 lbs with an intercooler so big it is covered partly by the bumper. It's nonsense. Like Volume King said just take it and sell it.

25" X 10.5" X 3" including the end tanks.

That is the size of intercooler used in Mackleer's kit, and pretty close to what Jeremy's is

ok thanx guys.....im told this intercooler is worth 300.....so im gonna try to sell it for that.....

just a thought....theres no way to custom shorten a intercooler...like i i were to cut 8 off the top and reweld the top back on?....cause i dont wanna deal with shipping this out...but if i have to i will

you can have that done. it actualy used to be a pretty common practice before cheap aftermarket intercooler were available. people would buy ones for big trucks and cut them down. the trick is finding someone who is willing to do it.

it would be easier to ship it out, then to bother trying to reweld it...and possibly mess it up bad
