i took my car out today and boosted it. now i know this is dumb but i just want to reassure myself that its ok and fixable. there was oil all over the engine bay and some even came out on the windshield. my thougths are is that it is shooting out of the hole on the top of the head. i just have a little breather on there and nothing else. could oil shoot out of there? (by the way the breather was part of the n/a fun) car still runs fine by the way.
why not check and see where its coming from when its running? Of course top it off first...
on idle nothing happens. i cant really see where when im driving. thats why im thinking oil pressure built up so mush it shot out of breather.
is the breather soaked? what motor? You can always rev the motor out of gear and see if it does it, i would think it would show up then?
its the 2200, and yes it is. most of the concentration is on the hood directly above the breather. oil didnt make it to far out. battery and antifreeze are clean. when it was na, the car would soak the breather but never bleed past it. not its everywhere and im thinking because of boost.
Dunno, i dont use a breather on mine, it hooks into the intake hose, but i also have a 2.4..
it use to hook into my intake. the breather was for.....looks i guess.
If you have that much oil coming out the breather you have bigger issues. Look to the inside of the motor for your cause.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

what do you mean bigger issues? now im worried. what could it be inside the motor?
Piston rings for one. That much oil should not be excaping the crankcase....from anywhere.

if it were the rings, would not the car burn oil in idle? if not should there be oil in the cylinder. im going to take the plugs out and take a peek inside to see if its dry tomorrow moring.
do a compression test and a leak down test... in that order... leak down tests are expensive

Mine was blowing oil out the breather, but thats because i removed the baffle from the valve cover to make room for my 1.6:1 roller rockers. If you find nothing wrong with the motor, I recommend an Oil catch can.
BTW, hows the pull under boost? I wanna boost my 2200 in the future, hows she feel?
feels good, very good. right now im undergoing some tuning with the help of imphat0260/cavattack2000. only 6 psi until i get all internal in to do the complete rebuild.
OK, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A CLASSIC CASE OF, "I HOOOKED MY CRANK CASE VENT UP TO A PRESSURIZED LINE!" ENSURE YOU ARE NOT PRESSURIZING THE CRANKCASE. connect the pvc or whichever line is hooked up to the block, and either install a one way valve or hook it up before the turbo. This has happened to about 5 or 10 people on this site, super easy fix and common mistake to make. No harm done, cheers
It will smoke like a bitch only if you put it into boost.

Rings* boost leaks past them pressurizes the crankcase and you blow oil out the breather. I know the rings are shot on my ride and i had the same issues just not as bad as your description.

Sounds like the boost is pressurizing the crankcase and forcing oil out the path(s) of least resistance.
