....and I know everyone is going to say HPTuners. But there were turbo Ecotecs in the low 12's before HPTuners was unleashed (Suncavi and Hypsy come to mind). I know the standard protocol of larger injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and FMU, wideband O2, and Walbro 255. My question is, how do you manage to keep a decent 11.8-12.3 (or whatever's necessary) air/fuel ratio without the ECU pulling pulse width to achieve stoichiometric 14.7 ratio???
It's not that I have anything against HPTuners, I just don't have anyone in my area willing or able to do the tuning for me. Plus, (and this may seem idiotic) I happen to like the look of a more "mechanical" fuel system setup.
I appreciate any and all non-flaming.

The Hahn Portfueler is a great way to tune your fuel. I think Hypsy is using it now, I don't know about Suncavi.
It's a log intake manifold with 4 spaces for more injectors. So on your 4cyl, you'll have 8 injectors. These injectors start spraying a set amount of fuel when you hit boost.
There's always the option of running a 5th injector before the throttle body. Don't know a lot about that though, same principle, but you're succeptible to fuel puddling and blowing holes in your intake manifold.
the hahn portfueler wont work without some modification.contact hypsy and he will tell you how he got the fmu to work and how he is going to get the portfueler to work. i know he said getting a stock reflash from the dealership is what he is going to do now.
suncavi has a standalone now, from
http://www.fuelinjectionpro.com/, he linked us before in another thread a while back...
i kno you said kno hptuners, but if you dont get a pump, FMU, and afpr you can get the basic or maybe even pro hptuners, and even spilt it with a friend to save money (a friend with a compatible car) that is of course... if its a money issue...
megasquirt is also another cheap good solution, maybe even better if you are only worrying about controlling fuel...

What kind of modification? I know the ecu needs to be flashed to a 2002 so it won't try to run closed loop all the time. What else? Anything serious?
suncavi ran 11's with nothing more then an fmu and an safc. you dont need anything more for a long time.

Ok to clear up the record once and for all....
I DO NOT HAVE THE PORTFUELER ON MY CAR AT THIS TIME. I do not even have it in my possesion yet. I am still deciding what I want to do for 2007 before I invest any more money into this car.
That said...the HRC PortFueler is an amazing tool. It is probably the simpliest, although not the cheapest, way to get the fuel your car needs to run 11s and 12s. Adam ran it on his car when he ran 11.40s. Basically what it is is a log style manifold, designed to fit the Cavalier body and stock TB, with bungs for 4 extra injectors. These injectors are run off a seperate computer and fuel rail system that brings them in only when the PortFueler's MAP sensor senses boost. Off boost you are running on nothing but your stock injectors, allowing for the amazing
gas milage the Cavalier is known for.
Let me know if you want some pricing on it. I can get it for you. Since it is all hand made it does take a bit of time though.

So a SAFC-2 would fix the computer issues with an 04-up J-body??? And whereabouts does a Portfueler run pricewise???

No the SAFC won't fix anything. It might help your idle but since the 03+ don't have MAP based fueling it won't help anything.
Portfueler starts at about $700 for just the manifold and goes up from there.

So what did you (hypsy) use for fueling before HPtuners??? I want to make sure my computer doesn't pull pulsewidth when I'm trying to boost, and don't really want HPTuners at this time. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm an admitted boost noob and appreciate all of the help.

A fix that we designed with HRC's help.

And that fix would be the portfueler??? Sorry for being naive, I'm just monumentally stupid today.

No it's not but I'm not at liberty to discuss the fix on this site. It directly affects the top speed limiter by it's design.
