Well some of you might be aware that i got my hands on a charger and have been dying to get it in.....5 am, in the morning and that dream came to life; my car was starting to whine like it was being fudged to EARLY! I must admit,
I m so pleased that we have people like Darren (sunfiregtp) and Chris (sweetness) who both helped out (or should I say, did practically everything....). These guys were amazing, and really helped put my car together flawlessly!
But I got a few issues. First off the car is a 99 so I couldnt get the reflash. Although i got it hooked up to an adjust. fmu (with stock skinny injectors) the car must be running real lean since it loses power at higher rpms and loads. But the injectors areon there way, and so is the wideband.
The main problem is that Im only seeing 2.5psi! WTF! I was so suprised when I saw this and Im still kinda confused.
Any suggestions?
Do I have a boostleak?
Is the bypass valve screwed up?
Can the valve be adjusted, or how do I check if its ok?
Does it pull a lot harder than it did without the charger?
First, I would check your boost gauge, that's the easy fix.
If not, it sounds like your bypass valve isn't closing all the way.
It's also possible the throttle cable is loose, is it?
Are all the intake manifold bolts torqued properly?
good call...the throttle cable is loose...i remember hearing that when they did the install...infact my throttle cable is about to snap...i hope chris or darrens sees this post
Yea I would check your connections on the boost gauge. BTW I replied to your email
Car is for Sale!Supercharger kit is for sale!
well glad to see you have it on and my s/c spins again.
only 2.5 psi? It isnt the bypass vavle, there is nothing wrong with the s/c and i have not heard of a m45 bypass vavle problem. I hit 4.5-5 psi everytime i floored it from the first day i had it, till the day i took it off.
what boost guage do you have? where you have it hooked up to? How you have it hooked up?
I know when i had a autometer guage that hard vaccum line hooked up to it was tricky to run up to the gauge pod and it kinked.
Just go over your boost guage connection and get the fuel issue worked out and you will be good to go.
Feel free to e mail me, or call.
later
jake
If you think it is running lean then why are you even driving it?
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Hey Jake,
Been awhile since I talked to you. I was gonna call you yesterday to tell you its in but i lost my phone and your number
. Ive been driving out of boost since, but Ill admit the first whine I heard made me crazzyyy even though I was half asleep.
Ya Im gonna check the hard tube, my guess is its restricted. I dont think the throttle cable is loose, since the car is so responsive; but Im also thinking the bypass valve got [fubbered] in shipping. Also its funny how it actually stays at 2.5psi and doesnt go lower or higher when I ram it consistenly across.
Wade, honestly its the only working car I got now....and, Im not hitting boost at all, staying below 15 hg
I think his charger is fine....it pulls like crazy. I think the reason why we're not seeing proper boost off the guage is because of where we T'ed off of. We had one vacum line and it was connected to the FPR and FMU, we then added the boost guage. It's diffently not accurate, the car pulls as if it's running 6psi. Guess we gotta go back and T off of someother area. Anyway, just want thank Darren and Chris again for their help and dedication in getting my bro's dreams come to life.
PS. That was a nice race Chris
I wonder if that has anything to do with stock timing as opposed to the GM s/c reflash... throwing NA timing at it would make it much quicker, but will also obviously make tuning much more critical. Your signal line should be alright though, and if you are afraid something is not responsive enough, you should run a seperate line.
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
are you running an underdrive pulley?
farmerz24
nope no underdrive pulley, stock timing garrett? good guess but I dont think it has much to do with that. It is kinda weird, im wandering whether anyone had the same problem. Would it make a diffrence if im at 20 hg at idle?
Chris and I were talking about this buddy. Its on of 2 things. Either its your boost gauge, I am not sure what kind it is, but maybe just slap another one on for a quik drive and see. Or it could be your feed line is kinked. Your car definately feels like it is pushing about 4.5-5 psi.
if any of those ideas dont work, swap in a 2000+ PCM with the GM reflash.
I have a 99, with the 2000+ PCM reflashed, and im seeing 5-6 psi.
With that comes a few problems...(but im still seeing boost)
I dont have RPM's, Engine temp, Check engine light is on, Low coolant light is on, and battery light is on.

Darren...thanks for the insight, as soon as I get the injectors, Ill swing by when you and chris are free. And ruen, I think id invest in HPT rather then doing the reflash. Id scare the "smart" chicks away with all those light on my HUD lol.
HP is coming this winter....and my woman loves the lights.
It's like a rave.

id get the reflash, its a good starting point, figure if you dont reflash and get hpt your gonna have nothing to work with at all, only costed me like 75 bucks or w/e it was per hour for the gm dealer to flash it after i installed the charger myself way back when.
Still havent got this fixed, to be honest...my next mods for this car are:
Ported charger
2.6 pulley
alky
2bar tune with HPT
things im gonna waste my money on:
pulling off the tint and installing a 4 pt roll bar...dont ask, seriously i think it looks serious...
and im completely gutting it
cant wait! but I gotta figure this 2.5 psi thing, still waiting on the wideband and injectors before i touch anything

the roll cage deal is unneeded, you'll see what i mean when you have the charger for alittle while and see its limitations. im guessing that your bypass valve might be screwed up somehow.
Ya, another old bump, but I'm only hitting 2 PSI according to my gauge (might be 2.5 but my gauge is digital and only shows non-decimated numbers). When the car is off it reads 0 PSI, when its idling it reads -9 or so, and when I floor it the most it gets to is 2. Weird. Thought it's supposed to be 4.5 PSI with the stock pulley. Maybe because I'm running 89 grade fuel and not 93 like I'm supposed to be (don' t ask, I filled her up with 89 thinking it was premium just before the dealer reflashed it, haha)?

How is the octane rating of the gas going to affect how much pressure is created inside the supercharger? Does it make the belt spin slower? C'mon now...I hope you were only joking about that...
14.330 @ 96.37mph
Ya, but, so where's your insight?

It feels like its monstrous with the supercharger, I'll go over my boost gauge tubes and where I tee'd off, I have a feeling that's the problem since my tubing's all twisty. >_>
