I am simply writing this post as an idea for all of those people put there who would like to get a supercharger, or any other accessory, but cannot afford it.
This past March I purchased a 2001 Sunfire GT for $3800.00, and it had the GM supercharger, lowering springs, Baer brakes (Sport tracs), a gauge cluster on the b-pillar, an RK Sport aftermarket bumper, OZ 17" rims wrapped in Yokohama rubber, that is installed onto an otherwise loaded factory GT. I purchased this car with the intention of striping off the after market parts, installing them onto my 2001 2.4L SE, and returning the GT to stock conditions for resale.
Simply put, in stock condition, I sold the GT for $4,000.00
The OZ rims for $200.00
The lowering Springs for $150.00
I incurred about $820.00 in parts, and labor costs to have a friend help with the process. All said and done the charger, brakes, and gauges now reside in my SE for a costs of about $270.00
Just a thought guys and gals. Have a good one
You don't often see too many J's with superchargers for sale... hell you rarely see them even on this site

To be perfectly honest, I do not know why the guy was selling the GT for so cheap. The car was well documented. He had reicipts from all the major purchases and service work. Personally we could not find any major defects with the car. The guy sold the car for a little under what KBB stated the value was. Just keep in mind, KBB does not account for items like a supercharger or aftermarket brakes, and things of that nature. So as soon as I saw the car I immediately thought it would be a cheap way to get a supercharger. Knowing what the car was worth once it was back into stock condition, I was only taking a gamble on what would be found once the car was "apart".
Now the bad news. The person that bought the GT from me, bought it on a Wednesday; totaled the car on Thursday!
I'd have bought the car for the brakes and sold the blower, I don't need two of them!!
Nice score for sure, you lucked out.

So why didn't you keep the GT and just sell the SE?
Mileage or something?

I did not keep the GT for several reasons. 1) The GT had 40,000 more miles than my SE, and 2) I did not know anything about the GT. At least nothing more than what the seller had told me. Do not get me wrong, I had no reason not trust the guy, but then again I had no reason to trust the guy. I buy was pure luck considering what he wanted for the vehicle. So as long as the car test drove okay and the title was clear, all I was concerned about was the condition of the brakes and supercharger. Considering that is all I wanted the car for from the very beginning.
I did not mean to give the wrong impression to anyone about the process. I was simply saying that it is hard to part with $2,400.00 in one fell swoop. So a possible solution to that, or if you cannot afford to part with that amount of money at once, is to buy a cheap car with the parts your looking for. Pay for the car with a small loan from a bank, take the parts you want, and sell the car to pay off the loan. If your able to do this is a relatively short period of time you would very little interest on the loan. But the overall point of the posting was to say that it is possible to purchase the aforementioned parts for an all said and done price of $270.00, at least in my situation.
By the way, thank you to everyone for the comments
I only have one quick question. What do you plan to do with the charger. Iwould have kept the GT since it is impossible to put the blower onto the SE engine unless you hot one of those freaks that I thought were only in Canada.

The answer to your question is stated in the initial posting. I have a 2.4L equipped SE, and the reasons for not keeping the GT are also previously mentioned, but thanks for the interest in the posting.
Have a good one

The 2.4 was an option for the SE Sunfire, just not many took it.
