possible turbo issue???
Saturday, December 30, 2006 8:48 PM
Last night I was driving to wally world and was trying to race my friend and I floored my turbo and it kicked in but then it acted like it was about to cut off and the check engine light came on so I turned on a side road and it was driving ok and the check engine light went off so after I left wally world I tested it and it happened again. I've been driving it around today and its been fine but I haven't punched the turbo. Is my turbo going bad? It hasn't done that before but I did get gas at wilco yesterday cause I was on empty and I always buy shell so could it be bad gas? Tonite when I backed out of the parking lot at sharkeys my car was making a banging sound and it acted like it was gonna cutt off but it did fine driving to walmart and back home. I know these cars are bad for head gaskets but are there any warning signs when a head might be ready to blow? Its not overheating or blowing out steam.

From the sounds of it its probably not the turbo. So you say it has never done this before when you have got on it with the shell gasoline? What exactly was making the banging sound?

Yeah its never done it. IT sounded like it was metal hitting metal from the top of my engine. I'm gonna fill er up with v power later and see if that fixes the problem.

Sounds like very bad detonation. Get rid of that cheap gas or you can Kiss your Pistons goodbye. check your plugs too for signs of detonation. Do not keep spooling the turbo or you will be sorry.

I put good gas in it today and problem solved. I came here for help not insults. I just can't post in forums anymore because of @!#$s who think their better than everyone else has to butt in and show everyone what they really are, an ass. If people would just try to help someone instead of putting them down this world would be a better place.

The check engine light problem is your over-boost protection, it has nothing to do with your gas but rather the wastegate actuator/vacuum lines or boost solenoid. The banging sound happened while backing out? It sounds to be a totally different issue as you would not hit boost in reverse and would never be anywhere near detonation. That problem is most likely in your transmission. Throw it in reverse a few more times and see if the problem still comes up.

I'm sorry man I didn't notice. I'm so use to being put down or picked on. I apologize. Now that think about it that is a cool sig. I need to come up up with something cool like that.
