Whats goin on group, i have read the FAQ and the stickies, but i want to know from the people who have done it. What is the minimun amount of parts needed to get a turbo setup going. I read the posts, i know i should change the injectors and fuel pump, get a S-AFC and all tis other stuff, but is it all necessary right now. I got the turbo, intercooler, charge pipes, manifold, Bov, wastegate, boost controller, oil feed and return. Just want to know what else is needed to just get it running. BTW.. its a 96' 2.2 motor.
you have all the "air" stuff you need... or it sounds like it.
to run any boost at all... you need to add the "fuel" you can do that very nicely with a FMU "begi 2025" is the best with "vortech (plate type)" in a very distant 2nd
that will do you for a bit of extra hp, once you start wanting more you will need to pull timing either with a MSD dis-2 and map sensor setup...
If you want total control and have some experience with engines and electrical look into a Mega Squirt (google it) or search on the tuning forums here... or ebay has built ones.
I am not sure what the 96 2.2 all needs.. you have side feed injectors so you will likely be in for a top feed conversion (search stevefire) don't PM him until you have done all the research you can and then some.. but he posted up some really nice pics and did up a 96 2.2 (with top feed conversion)... but he went extreme with a holley EMS IIRC.
That should be a good start, post up some pics of the stuff you have bought and lets go from there.
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
It is funny you are asking about the least amount of things you need, but you have things like boost controller, BOV. Those you do not have to have. You do need ways to increase fuel under boost. As stated above a FMU. If you want the least sell your boost controller and buy a FMU. Also do some more search because you will be limited on on boost you can run because of your injectors. You will need to do a top feed swap so you can upgrade injectors. Boosting a non turbo motor is not the time to get cheap. It is not hard to break these motors if not set-up right.

I seen someone do a top feed conversion, or at least post pics on here b4. Is anyone charging a price to maybe put them 2gether? I will look up Stevefire for research. I have found an FMU and i will probably buy it with my next check. Someone was also telling me about a wideband o2? I realize that cheap isnt always the best way, but is the wideband necessary for a starter kit? BTW. How much on average will it cost to install, when i have completed gettin what i need. Thanx. everyone for the response so far.
yes, get the wideband. and as for the topfeed conversion, i believe there is one for sale in the classifieds.
Is the wideband needed? Well truly no, as long as you take the car to a dyno that has a wideband and tune the car. If you do not do that then you need a wideband so you can tune the car. From the sounds of it you might not know how to tune, or what parts to tune. SO going to a shop and having it done would be best. Prices on install vary hard to say.

All true statements, thanx folks i will work on the FMU and the top feed. Anybody from the Maryland area on here that may know about a place i can get a dyno once im done?
