do you need to buy special paint or can i just mist a few light coats of paint and be ok?
thanks
It doesn't really get that hot, but there is hot coolant flowing through it.
I'd be safe, use high temp paint.
thats what i was going to use but i have heard some paint is to thick and can hurt the HE
if your he is aluminum, make sure you use aluminum primer and aluminum paint. but it wont effect how well it works.......
why are you wanting to paint the heat exchanger ?
if anything get the same paint from a radiator shop
its a used cobra HE so i figured its gonna have some dings in it and junk like that so i figured i would clean it up a little
he might want to paint it to fit in with the rest of his engine bay
ok guys thanks i will post some pics of my install after im all done

Yes, it will. Paint is an insulator for exchanging heat however might not enough to matter if you get the right kind. Its a good sugesstion by 97trd to use what is used on radiators.
well it doesnt matter because its in great shape so i dont need to paint it anyway.
one more question does it matter how i mount it? I.E. the inlet and outlet facing forward or backward? Because i have heard that its a good idea to mount it as close to the radiatior as possible. Or does anyone have any reccomandations on how or where to mount it?
thanks

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of an air to water heat exchanger which is completely enclosed.
it is an air to water isnt it?
he isnt thinking in the same box , he is thinking of the 1 used in the intake piping , not the radiator section
and the hoses do not really matter , if both are on the bottom , doesnt matter if they point foward or towards the back
