hey all,
Ok, so i just got the m45 bolted up to the car and hooked up all the lines, and everything else. The car has not been driven in about a year. I've been doing the body work. Everything on the car is unhooked. NO interior is in the car. no exhaust, except headers. This is a '99 z24. I got everything so far that we fired up the car, and it will stay running and then it seems like the computer shuts it off. I did not have the reflash done yet, but it should still run at idle. I am absolutely clueless as to why this thing wont stay running. I heard theres some cavalier gurus on here that know their way forwards and backwards with these superchargers. Any help is appreciated.
thanx,
pat
Does it start up for about 2 seconds and then shut off?

Keep the stock map in there untill u get it tuned (reflashed) at a dealer. The ECU dosnt like the 2bar map sensor on the stock flash!
Wait.. is yours a 99 1/2 (smaller starter no egr?)
seems like your fuel is cutting out. And judging by the fact that your interior is gutted (and you possibly messed with the ignition wires, stereo, etc.), doesn't our theft system make the fuel cut.

He is asking this question, as this happens when your gauge cluster is unplugged, as it triggers Theftlock.
I imagine this is most likely your problem.

Well depending on the year of the car depends if you can take the cluster out. 2000+ you do not have to have a cluster in to run the car. Seeing as he has interior out something could be disconnected that should not be.

you cant reflash it , you have a 99
I don't think you did quite enough research on what it takes to put the M45 kit on your 99 because you're under the assumption you're going to be able to get it "reflashed", which anyone and everyone knows isn't possible. You're gonna have to give more info on what all you've done, such as installed an FMU, etc, how long it runs for before it shuts off, whether or not your cluster is plugged in and you have a security/theft light illuminated on the dash...
And that's pretty cool, how you managed to get more than one header on your engine, can you show me that trick?

lol,
yea, i just super glued the headers together
The car runs for pretty much 3-4 seconds. Then it shuts off. I thought it might be a fuel problem, so i bypassed the fuel pump relay, to make sure its getting constant pressure. That didn't do anything. so far i dont have much else on the car. I have a cartech fmu that i'll hook up soon, but i wanted to get the damn thing running first. The whole theft system never even crossed my mind. YES, everything in the interior is unplugged/gutte. No panels/dash/carped, just wires chillin. I can plug the cluster in any time tho, which i'll try. as far as the reflas, i was a lil dazzled. I read some posts on here, and came to the conclusion you can only reflas a '00 and up. But when i called your friendly local GM dealer, they told me it can be done. But they're usually dumbasses......It must be a '99 1/2, since i have the smaller starter/no egr. The cluster thing might be it tho. I have a '02 z24 as well, and the cluster took a @!#$, so i just drove without one for about a month or so without a problem.
Thanx for all the posts guy, i'm new to this site, and real impressed with it,
I'll try to get some pics of my ride in here, to give out a better idea of what i'm talking about.

something else i just thought of, is it possible to run the '02 z24 with the '99 ecu? I could just have the one that was in the '02 reflashed and use it in the '99...
just a thought. Opinions?

Yeah I think you have a "theft lock" issue. No you will not be able to run the 02 ECU in your 99 (without a lot of other work as well).

Contact ruen regarding reflashing a '99.
I know you must have the high impedence injectors, smaller starter, and no EGR.
His cluster just went screwy, but that seems to be the only downside.
Alright, I just had some time to try starting it up with the cluster plugged in. No such luck. It does the same thing as without the cluster. runs for 3 or so seconds and shuts itself off. However, the Theft System light is on steady when the key is in the run position. as soon as you crank the engine over, it starts flasing. So my question is, what other components on the car are associated with the theft system. hell, i didn't even know these cars had a theft system....any suggestions, please.
your in theft , you need to do the relearn
the theft light should be off
GM Service manual says:
Turn ignition on and try to start the car. Do not turn off ignition. Leave on for approx. 10 minutes until "theft" quits flashing. (Again, do not turn off key.) Start the car. Computer will reset " code " while running.
