if this controls everything that a regular standalone does... like timing, fuel, boost control/trims, and all the other nice stuff that AEM and many others have AND its plug and play.... then this is a huge find for us....
i think 1900 would be a good price if this is what im thinking it is

You're paying $1900 for an ecu and the tuning software. It's a GM ecu, the MEFI, designed for Marine use, and it uses all GM sensors. It's a damn good piece of equipment. Stories I've heard are that these controllers are used during R&D on original engines and sometimes when GM is building a concept car. Same ecu is used with some Harley Davidsons and with the Ramjet V8 engines. I used a MEFI2 on a 67 Chevelle for a while.
If ya wanna save some money, the software alone should be about $600 - $700.

You can get a MEFI 4 controller for about $450 from gmpartsdirect using part no. 88962717. The old MEFI3 part no., 12489488, doesn't come up as a good number anymore. But they show up on Ebay from time to time.
Then you need to work out details for wiring harness, ignition, etc.

Because the wiring harness is the wiring harness, and the ignition system is the ignition system.
Kinda like "why doesn't tires encapsulate wheels?" Different parts, bought separately, to work together.

If you choose to save money going DIY instead of buying the whole package then you'll probably have to do some of it yourself.
