current exhaust question
Sunday, February 18, 2007 12:04 PM
I have an 04 cav eco. I am also going to be purchasing the gm sc kit. The exhaust I am going to run will be, tsudo header, (maybe pacesetter) and 2.5 piping from willy at cti. I will have a magnaflow high flow cat, and resonator. Anyone see any problems with this?

2nd question the muffler I have on my car as of now that I recently purchased and would like to use, is the apexi ws2 n/a muffler, with a 2.36 inlet. Will that restrict a great amount since the rest is going to be 2.5. Comments and concerns are appreciated.

I would be best if you could get a 2.5 inlet muffler, but there shouldn't be any significant decrease in flow for the 3-4" of 2.25 you'll have to run to adapt the exhaust to the muffler. BTW my girlfriend is looking at that muffler for her honda, how does it sound?

Yeah it would be better if you got a 2.5" muffler to match the rest of the exhaust. If you have2.5" piping the whole way and then dro to 2.25" at the end, you might as well just have 2.25" the whole way. Get the bigger muffler to match the bigger piping.

Also, there's another post talking about how an aftermarket header for the supercharged 2.0 Eco flows better than any of the aftermarket headers for the 2.2 Eco. I'd look into that if I was me with a supercharged 2.2.

well, thanks for that answer. I have a few more questions. If I were to put the supercharger kit on,go get it reflashed, then later on maybe a smaller pulley, and my header back exhaust, would that jack up the reflash and cause it to run poorly? How about the eco s/c guys that have the gm reflash? How are they running with exhaust? Decent?

Had a full pacesetter exhaust on my 96 Z with the GM s/c, it ran fantastic, when you're getting more air in you gotta get more air out, or you're defeating the purpose. As for the reflash, it should adjust slightly to an increase in boost, but I'm not 100% on that. Just hope one of the guys on here with the GM s/c on the eco posts. I know of a couple that have put smaller pullies on but don't know how the car ran after, I'm guessing good, but not completely sure.
