What do I need electronically for boost.

I've been a nitrous guy for a few years now but I'm getting into building my cavalier with Turbo/Nitrous..
I dont have very much knowledge whatsoever. My buddy helping me is a DSM guy so he obviously know lots about turbo's (and repair lol)

He told me to find out how to get the computer to read boost, What do I have on my ecotec? A MAF or MAP sensor? When boosting do I have to buy any kind of sensor or what? I'm lost

all jbodies are MAP based.
depending on the type of tuning you are going to be using ( i suggest HPT) you will need to purchase a 2 bar map sensor, and HPT.
and bigger injectors and you should be able to tune everything needed for an easy turbo set-up

A 2 bar map will only get you to 15psi (you're DSM buddy will laugh in your face). Try a 3bar

2 bar will be plenty. Running a full 15psi properly tuned with a properly built engine and fuel mods will easily get you into the 300HP range, anyone who laughs at that has issues that no one can help.

Also realize the higher the bar sensor the less precision you'll have when you tune in hp tuners.

very good point.
I'm running a 4bar on my DSM because the MS 2.5bar isn't enough, and compared to most, mine is basically stock.

I know me and him talked and he did say that he'd rather have me get a 2 bar sensor because its more accurate than a 3 bar and I probably wont run more than 15 psi anywhoo

I suppose a 2 bar would have a more accurate volt reading than a 3 bar because its less sensitive or something to that effect.
