I was driving on the freeway today, and decided to hit boost at 140km. The minute I slammed on the gas and watched the gauge, it said 5psi! It never used to get that high, it would always lag and only hit 2.5psi. So my question is, what happened? I didnt touch anything! And its been what 5 months with the sc, and till today, it hit 5psi (on stock pulley).
I know many of us have had problems with low boost numbers on these things, and I had my fair share of complaining, but what could have caused this.
Remember, I didnt do anything at all, other than ram my car as much as i could since I was always pissed off at only getting 2.5psi.
My guesses are this:
* the bypass valve was stuck halfway and somehow freed itself.
* the boost gauge was screwed and somehow fixed itself
* also, last night I went over this HUGE pot hole (shoke everything) so Im thinking that had something to do with the reason why Im hitting 5 psi now
I know I may sound a bit crazy right now, but Im tooo happy! Although the car still burns gas like a pig, Im so confused! I suggest all you guys that have low boost numbers to take a drive at 140 over potholes to see if the problem goes away
jks...but hey I think thats what fixed mine!
Good Good Sam. Get a wideband in there and give the car to chris and i for a few hours
Wow, thats cool, did it feel any difference with power? I have the 2.6 and only see 4.5 PSI and hate it. I bought a new bypass and am doing a write up on the install with pics as best I can. Are you still seeing 5 PSI now?
Congrats
Chris

Alberto, actually, I changed that hose three times so I doubt it. Chris, I havent rammed the car properly to still see if it lags, but it does feel alot more powerful! I ll let you know today if its still seeing 5psi. And (Sweetness) Chris, PM me your number so we can get the tuning started.
i just got my S/C on last weekend and hit 5 PSI all the time , i thought that was about what u should be seeing with the stock pulley..
If i was seeing 2.5 PSI all the time i would be highly PISSED paying all that for just that much boost! and also u have a 2.6 and just seeing 5PSI ..what are u guys driving in 100 deg. PLUS temp!!!(outside temp)
no I have the stock pulley, not the 2.6. Wasnt the stock one a 2.8
Weather and ambient temps can have a pretty significant effect on your boost levels

Yes stock is 2.8

nope, its not the weather cause it got so hot!
Well @!#$ I finally seen 8psi, actually it was 9 as logged in hpt. but it was about 50deg out and I hadn't jumped on the throttle yet so the iat temps were down HAHA i have the 2.6" pulley. stock i would see 6psi so
Good to hear man I know you've been having problems with it.

Why how much tuning are you going to do on it, Darren? lol
-Chris-
I was wondering that myself.

chris, im pretty sure the p&p head that we're both running has to do with low boost numbers, when the head is flowing real good the boost numbers go down but the power goes up cause its flowing real good. i havent had a boost gauge hooked up in about a year but i was seeing 5psi with 2.6.
