whats the max power people are seeing out of the eco charger and how are they getting it? Trying to see what the limit of the charger is to deciede if I want to switch to the charger or stay with the hahn stage 2.
btw I searched for a bunch of posible titles and came up with nothing.
with a built engine, small pulley (2.6"), water/meth injection, hp tuners and a top notch intercooling system, upwards of 300 whp is feasible, just like the LSJ guys... search the cobaltss.net forums or the redlineforums.com
without the built engine, phlatcav got 245 whp out of his with a 2.9" pulley and bolt ons
airtonics blew his stock engine with a 2.8" pulley

Also, you have to consider the powerband you'll have rather than only peak power. The turbo will be at full boost at maybe 3000 rpm while the supercharger won't get there 'til redline. Maybe you've already looked into it, but I'm just putting it out there.

How about we don't know yet. In excess of 250 with a built motor and a manual is very reasonable. Aaron cars put down 245, but is an auto which have a little more parasitic draw then a manual. Anything smaller then about a 3.0 or a 2.9 and you will run inot issue without a built motor and much tuning.
But as Chad sais, I had a 3.1 pulley on my car, and Jon's car felt crazy fast with the smaller pulley....

Wrong, go on youtube and search for a video of a cobalt ss boost guage... They shoot right to max boost and hold. A roots type supercharger makes full boost early and increases as the engine needs it, unlike a centrifugal charger that increases boost at an increasing rate with rpms.
Im switching to a m62 blower soon on my built motor with 8,000rpm compcams... Im hoping for 300+whp

actually, I'll say that my boost gauge comes up to 80 % of full boost as soon as I go WOT and then it slows down but still goes up a bit with the RPMs...
for example in most gears as soon as I hit it it goes to 10 psi even if I start from 2000 rpm, then it creeps up to 12 psi at redline

With the M62 the max power you can make is right around 300whp.

yup 300whp, blower is spinning as hard as it should go with a 2.6 or 2.7 pulley anything smaller and your just creating more heat than power, its a shame that it cant be taken further than that but only with a whipple can you do that

If you plan on autocrossing your "Gay Tan Cav" Darkstars, assuming that is the car you are boosting and what you plan on doing with it, wouldn't you want a constant supply of power throughout the rpm range? Because the S/C would basically do that, you don't need large amounts of power on an autocross course and a turbo would take time to spool and once it spools you would have to slow down to take a corner. Thats why I decide to go with the GM S/C on my car because I was autocrossing, unfortunately I never had a chance to actually track test it before my car was wrecked

Would water/meth injection and a good intercooling system, along with maybe the dualpass be enough to allow you to go with a smaller pulley than 2.6 or 2.7?
under 2.6" the supercharger is spinning faster than the "safe" limits as warned by Eaton, the maker of the supercharger. It's not the engine that's unsafe, it's the supercharger that loses its efficiency.

your right about wanted the broad power band ect.. our wrong about the spool time, a proper turbo setup will have no negative effect over a supercharger
I think what he means is that no matter how a turbo is setup it will always take a turbo some amount of time (be it 2 seconds, or 1 second) to spool and build boost. Whereas the supercharger can give you 15psi simultaneously with the depression of the gass pedal.

The right sized turbo can deliver instant boost just like a supercharger, assuming you're not trying to make insane amounts of power out of a very small engine.

True, kinda like the 1.8t motor with its k03s turbo... Spools almost instantaneously, but is seriously lacking everywhere else

. or the damn neon with its TDo4-15G..... but id say most of that spool up time ( or lack of ) is from that manifold.

Been there with a s/c on a 2.4 and now a turbo on an eco. This is a very true statement. Boost is almost instant on the eco as it was on the 2.4. Just my .02, goot luck with the GTC.
