Im re-doing my 96 Sunfire GT this winter and im looking into ethier putting a supercharger or a turbo on it. Im not worried about price, but i am new to all of this so whats the benefiits of each? also, I need to keep the car as an everyday driver to, so i want the perfromance, but i want it to be reliable as well. Witch can i get more horsepower and performance from but still keep it running good to. Can you guys help a noob out? Thanks
!!!
P.S. .... yes i did read the "New Boost FAQ and i know that it exsplains the differnce between the two and how they are more or less reliable, so dont yell at me... i just want every1's opinion. Thanks.
the supercharger is probably a better choice for somebody who doesn't know what they are doing and for use on a daily driver. what are your goals power wise?
i want it to able to get up and go, but im not looking to take it to the track every weekend. I was thnking the same thine with the supercharger. I like the look of the supercharger better and it just feels like the right way to go. I know that ill have to modify a bunch of stuff to fit the GM superchager on tehre b/c iv got a 96 engine, but do you think it will still be reliable?
I would agree on the s/c. If you arent looking for the fastest J in the world, just looking for that little power up, then really, you might not need a lot. Obviously, stuff will still have a higher chance of breaking. As for what needs to be done to the motor to get the GM charger on there, I have no idea.

I just finished installing my custom turbo setup after a month and a half... not having too much experience really with under the hood stuff until I started. Now I'm faced with the daunting task of tuning it. Honestly, if I were you, I'd go for the supercharger based on the ease of install and lack of 'little' problems down the road.

Is supercharger better for auto-X type applications (+ no interest in dragging)?
