Hey all...got my wide band in finally and I'm running straight up 14:7 at idle and under full boost I'm in the (high 11s low 12s). I know best at WOT is around 12:5 or so but wondering what the effect of running high 11s and low 12s is? Bad?
Of couse it's better than being lean but what effect if any?
Also, when I am off the gas from driving and say slowing from 50 or 60...the wideband shows lean...really lean! I think that is normal though and it makes sense to be lean since I'm not giving it any gas!! This is the only time too...when deaccelerating. SOrry for a silly question but learning this wide band thing!
Last question...I still get a CEL from time to time for a random misfire (about every 5 engine cycles and then it will go off by itself and come back). Thought it was my fuel but looking at the wide band I'd say I'm fine on fuel. I think I have a bad tensioner though. Either that or the RSM crank pulley I bought used is warped. Would a bad tensioner and/or a warped crank pulley cause a misfire?
My tensioner jumps up and down when the car is just idling and almost makes the car sound like it has cams! Although the sound effect is cool and have received comments asking what type cams I have...I don't like the misfire and think the tensionor (or crank pulley) is my cause for a random misfire.
Thoughts on both questions?
Thanks!
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
12.5 is the max id say is ok under boost , any leaner isnt really good , in my opinion
and its normal for the tensioner to move around
i think 12.0 to 11.5 is a safer range to be in
Thanks...yeah I think it's fine under full boost since I'm seeing high 11s/low 12s from the wideband...that's good and I'm surprised I see 14:7 or right at it at idle...there are several that see rich...very rich!
The tensioner thing though...seems to move a heck of a lot more than it use too or the RSM crank pulley is warped or out of round or whatever you want to call it. I may just buy a new one and stick it on there and see what it's like.
What is the difference between the GM tensioner and the Florida Boys? What about crank pulleys...what a good brand out there or is RSM (ZSPEC) the only place?
