Are you running conventional or synthetic oil? If synthetic, an smaller oil cooler will work good....conventional, I would go larger, like for heavy duty. I would make sure that they are thermostatically controlled (most are), so that your oil will be at the proper temp, and not to cold. I got a 13 row universal cooler (that has multiple thread adapters for the filter sandwich) from my local pepboys for around $75. It is name brand, although the name currently escapes me.

Maybe a dumb question....would an oil cooler defeat the need for a turbo timer?

no, an oil cooler will help you from viscosity break down due to high temp. it will not eliminate hot shut down syndrome for your turbo....i would still recomend the turbo timer, or sitting in your car for a few minutes at idle before shutting it off.

I run a full mobile 1 syn. oil in the engine. So does B&M have the thermo control?

I'm using a bar & plate B&M trans cooler which is pretty big 11" x 8" x 1.5" pn 70266 with Permacool thermostat, braided lines and full flow hose ends and connectors.

2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.

Most of the oil filter sandwich adapters for oil coolers are thermo. controlled. It should say so on the box. I know Earls makes a good one...probably through summit racing...if a kit at your local shop isnt. if you are running synthetic, it shouldn't be to much of a problem, so long as the oil is getting up to proper operating temp, and doesnt stay to cold.

anything for a 2003 6.0L Chevy truck will work . and is a lot easier to find than looking for a a j-body. i recommend using the oil filter from the same application to.

I have a Mocal oil cooler that I have not hooked up yet. I need to pick up a sandwich adapter with a thermostat in it first
