S/Cer AND Turbo guys need input!
Saturday, June 30, 2007 2:07 PM
Alright guys, Right now, i have a supply of $$$ that im willing to blow really fast on the engine. Now before i start ripping into the engine and ordering parts i want to make make sure i know what i want to get as fare as boosting. this is where i need the people who have the stuff already needs to help if possible.

When posting replys please state what psi your running, what size turbo if turbed or if you are supercharged.

If you are cursing at 25-30 ( in town ) how easy is it to get upt to highway/interstate speeds?
Rate the set up on the fun factor on driving in town ( 1 is crappy 10 is a blast and a 1/2)
How long did it take to install everything?

mostly that is it. Thansk for any one who posted!

umm well 1st and 2nd a pretty much usless as theres no traction. so once im doin about 55-60 (3rd gear) is when i can floor it.

its a blast to drive on the freeway.

its a fun car to drive no doubt.
im running 15psi daily on a hahn 20g.

and a few days. worked in it a few hours each day. not full days. started wed afternoon... was runnign sunday afternoon/night

i honestly drive it normal most of the time. kinda lost interest in the whole speed factor

How much PSI? Forged or cast pistons and rods? HP Tuners or stand alone? t3/t4 hybrid or T4? Street or track use? These are all things you need to consider before putting any money into the car. Also traction concerns, get good wheels and tires and put the extra money into suspension! Having traction is key if you want to do those highway runs!! Suspension set-up can make or break what you are trying to accomplish. Power means nothing without control! If that helped then i can give you some good leads to building a turbo j.

I'm running a bone stock motor with a 16g @ 8psi.
Yesterday it went 14.3 @ 99mph on OEM Goodyear RS-A tires.
Best two runs of the night
The car still gets 26 mpg and its my everyday driver.

I just installed my turbo...(TD04, Saab setup) I"m running about 7-8 psi. took one weekend to install.

Fun Factor=10 for me. But 1st and most of 2nd gear are useless without the DR's on(only full throttle)

Go Turbo!!! It is sweet.

John H: i would take you up on the offer but i have my reasons for not wanting a Hahn kit ( some poeple that know me know why). If you had a different style set up i would be in! By the way whats your hp and torque at?

js soza: to answer your questions, a 1 million pounds no idk what i want for pounds 8-20 range, 8.9:1 forged piestons, eagale forged rods, lightened crank shaft then strengthened, ported head, ferrea valves, dual ferrea springs, titanium retaines, custom ground cams etc. HP-Tuners until i need to do other wise, i was thinking a Garret GT3083R turbo do to the fact that it has a t3 exhaust housing, but a t4 compressor housing, easy spool up but not instantly. Street use.

What would you like fro traction? i have Tein SS soil-overs, control arm bushings, eibach sway bars ( perfect because they let the body/suspension flex enough to keep the butt from flying around. for stopping power im going to have the SSBC front and rear disc brakes. and for tires i have no clue ... trial and error i guess wil be ocuring. i was thinking to start witha Neo Gen's then if needed ill up them to street legal drag radials for the street. if i stat slappin out to much for those to hold me well ... ill stop with the power or do something different. Im not looking to make 700 horse power. I think 300 will due me good but you never know what might happen when you start getting into it

Admiral Jedi : pm replied what ended up happening with the car?

lol so change the manifold and turbo... ud need to anyway if ur going to even try to come close to 700hp.. the car wont be streetable.. ud have to have a spendy custom clutch made. ud need a garret 67 or 35/45r for that kind of power.. those turbos alone are $1000+

i should be what hahn made. lil over 400whp

lol traction wont be there im telling u.. anythign in that 275+whp area and its gone. im on eibach and konis and its still bad.

Sounds like you got a great start there budy!!! I like the way you think when building a car. I start from ground up with wheels tires brakes and suspension. Then comes power. My friend owns trinity Motorsports and he uses Tein SS coilovers and his 1999 Honda Accord was featured in Modified. 345 WHP and he is using Yokohama Tires. Great Traction even when the turbo is hitting 19 PSI. I like tein SS. You might want to check into custom rate springs, and get bushings all the way around for the car. Play with the suspension and set-up the compression and rebound suitable for your style of driving on the coilovers. What you did is what im doing to my 05, but im having a wide body fabbed right now. IM going to be running Axxis widetrack wheels and 255-35-18 Fronts and 275-35-18 Rears. 3 months before i get to take her out on the road to test the grip!! I hope it goes by fast!!

how are you going to fit those front tires on the car, and why would you go with wider rear tires on a FWD car?

LD9 F23 FTW!!

My old setup.... T3/04e (.60 a/r compressor housing with a 60 trim compressor wheel, and a .63 a/r turbine housing with a stage 3 wheel)..... was a BLAST (10) to drive, spooled pretty quickly, and got up and moved.

8.9:1 compression..... a bit over kill for 300hp, but leaves room for growth.
Garret GT30R turbo...... great turbo, from what I have read, and should work great for you.

exactly

I love how they designed the gt30r! Its a T3 style exhaust housing, but a T04 compressor housing for fast spool but a nice boost!

Im having a wide body kit being built for the car!!! And why i would go wider rear tires is because most of the weight is on the front wheels, causing a lot of slide from the rear of the car. Having the superwide rears will make the car grip better, along with the 255-35-18 fronts. Axis widetrack wheels with an 80mm lip front and 120mm lip rear, i'll get some pics up in two weeks after i pick them up k?
