97 cavalier questions

My son has a 97 cavalier 2.2 non eotec that we would like to install a turbo on. We have experience with v-8's and with my other son's 1st gen 4g63 mits and have had good success. We have a nice t3/t4 with 50 Ar compressor a excellent fabbed weld L exhaust manifold with a tial waste-gate set to 8.5 lbs of boost. We also have the mits 16g from the 91 talon that we modified. What problem I'm having is to figure out what to do with the fuel side of this project. I know we will have to upgrade the fuel pump and upgrade the injectors. Will an adjustable FMU cover me? Many of the piggyback controllers leave a vague description of whether or not they can be used with a cav.
This is not intended to be an all out hp car. Just a cav with some extra nuts with the ability to still get decent highway mileage. We have inter coolers and the ability to fab the exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my son is a special kid that has survived a battle with brain cancer and I want to make this car a little special for him. Thank you

V8s, 4G63, and a turbo LN2...my kind of garage

As far as fuel, you're going to want two things...
1) Convert to Bosch-style top-feed injectors. There are no aftermarket injectors to fit a 97. The process involves boring out the stock injector "bungs" to the new injector size, and bolting up a 98+ fuel rail. This gives you nearly unlimited injector options.
2) Forget about using an FMU, it's not worth the hassle. Instead, invest in HP Tuners software.

I'd also like to add that neither of those turbos will be remotely efficient sititng on an LN2 at 8.5psi, turn up the boost

Yea notec has you covered. Trust me HP Tuners is a great investment. If you look into the tuning forums you'll see you get some bang for your buck with the system. and with a good tune your engine will live a whole lot longer.
