Significant oil coming from breather with GM Supercharger
Saturday, August 11, 2007 11:09 AM
I only posted this here due to the fact that the GM Supercharger comes with a replacement PCV baffle and I don't know what the difference is between the two.

I just put in a brand new LD9, it has about 100 miles on it. The breather that Jason put on the original motor/PCV baffle seems to be pouring oil right out of the crankcase, that's how bad it is. I can't think of why it would be that bad on this brand new motor so I'm looking for some advice.

Yea, one of the tubes coming from the PCV baffle. One goes to the timing chain cover, the other has, since I bought the car from Jason, always had a breather filter just sitting in the engine bay.

well 100 miles on a new motor , usually say the rings arent seated in yet

so having more blow by than normal , is a normal thing

That's what I figured but I heard GM motors were pre-broken-in. That, and the breather filter was pretty clogged up so I figured the two is probably what was causing it.

sounds like you should hook it up like GM wants it. crank case vaccume is GOOD....

your timing chain IS going to throw oil out the tube from the timing cover... NORMAL if it was the tube that comes from the oil to air sep and is suposed to go to the intake... thats not so normal

but sounds to me like your not having a issue that all Quad-4s have.
