Im looking to do a saab setup on my eco...now prolly in the future ill upgrade to a larger turbo blah blah blah..anyways im really not sure and havent been able to find what a good charge pipe size is to go with this setup and what the benifits/detriments there are with going with to large or small of a pipe..help please..phil
yah..i was thinking 2.25 or 2.5" to run but im sure there is a theory or science to what to use and when it becomes overkill versus benifit..i want to push this turbo to 300 if i can..phil
so it doest make any differnce realy? keep in mind the small size of the saab turbo,,,phil
every saab turboed ecotec cavalier ive been in is running 2" charge pipes. i didnt complain when in passenger seat.
altho i am running 2.5" on my car, but the LD9 isnt whats being talked about at this time.

I have the saab setup and I'm using 2" piping. Personally I thhink the 2'' is holding me back a little at the top of the rpm range. I am in the process of upgrading to either 2.25 or 2.5".

hmm..guess i can always upgrade..i just swear i heard if they are too big it takes longer to spool..just dont want to bother shipping 2" steel pipes if i can upgrade them..as i have said i want to push this setup to the max..to give you an idea..
Spec stage 3+ lightened clutch
Fidanza lightened flywheel
Lzm balance shaft deletes
Md9 light alt pulley (crank as soon as its out)
Smg 62mm tb
TTR upper mount
RSM lower mount
TTR tranny mounts
I think it will complement the saab setup nicely and ill be looking for a intake as well..
You'll be fine with 2.5" pipes, especially if you're pushing for 300hp. If it even affects spool, it'll only be very minimal and you won't even be able to feel it.

2" piping is what came stock on the saabs and there is very little lag if you use this piping.

i use 2.25 charge pipes and there is very very very little lag and my top end is amazing. on 10psi i ran a 13.8 @ 104.3mph with a 2.06 60' time on an automatic tranny
Yah i dont care about lag really....as long as i have full boost by 3000rpm im happy. I think im going to risk it and run 2.5" charge pipes. That way if i want to run a diff turbo and such i am setup for it..thanks alot..phil
Also on a side note...will ceramic coating the manifold, downpipe and hot side of the turbo benifit me?
yes it will help to coat the turbine sde of the turbo and downpipe because it will help spool the turbo more efficiently and will also keep the heat in the downpipe so it doesnt radiate heat elsewhere, so you will have cooler underhood temps
And wont coating the exhaust mani help spool quicker?
full boost at 3000 rpm...hmm..hah i start seing boost around then...2.4L 2.5" lots of piping tho

i have full boost on my tdo4h by 3000rpm if not before
i have full pressure (8psi) at 2200-2500 rpm with the Saab setup with 2in piping. Also you can get 5psi at 1900rpm in cruise using that little acceleration button........
nice find chad, lol. i am currently selling my whole setup, so if anyone is interested pm me for details. i want to sell it pretty quick so i can start my new build

If the outlet on the compressor is only 2inch why go more than that??? Seems like to me if you go 2.25 or 2.5 it would take longer to fill up the extra space?
