GM Supercharger Install

Is the GM Supercharger a bolt on? Is it something that i could do on my own with a couple buddies. All i need to do is put it on and then do a reflash right? I'm learning little by little about this before i decided to go through with it. Thanks

By the way this is for the 2.2 ecotec Cavalier

its very easy to install, comes with everything you need except the heat exchanger, pump, and lines. you don't necessarily need that stuff right away, but its a lot easier to install that stuff when you are installing the charger.

the install shouldn't take you and a few buddies too long. you just need some basic tools and some common sense. after you install it, you'll need to limp the car to a dealer that will do the reflash. call them ahead of time and make sure they actually know what the hell they are doing. it will save you major headaches. make sure to bring the s/c instruction manual with you when you go to the dealer, as the techs probably won't know what to do. the instruction manual has all the part numbers and even the phone number for them to call techline to get the necessary info for the reflash. after its reflashed, feel free to beat the piss out of it and enjoy the whine

Silver03cava, I recommend going to your local GM dealer and ask them for the GM Sport compact Performance build book (part # 88958646) and look through it. Not only will that help you with part numbers and information on the engine but it has a step by step install of the ecotec supercharger with pictures....definitely pick that up man, itll help.

Is there a color install book for the 2.4L s/c install manual? I installed my S/C almost a month ago now and I did the install with the crappy black and white photocopied instructions. Would like to get a color nicer copy to keep if I can.

I've got one of the original colour copies, it's real purdy and stuff

As for the M62 install...I dunno if I'd recommend it to anyone without a good idea of what they're doing mechanically and with tools. It's not exactly a walk in the park like the M45 is. I've done three now, and I still don't like 'em!

Do you know if there is a part number for the color book? Like I mentioned I would like a color copy.

You shouldn't have many problems, I'd say 2 days, 3 if you're slow.

Well. I took the part number for the instruction manual off the crappy photocopied instructions I have into the dealer. I talked with my parts guy but the manual doesnt show up in the GM database unless it is a US GM Part Number. He also phoned the people who do all the catalogues and owners manuals for GM and gave them the part number and they dont list it as a catalogue.

So what if you had a kit and you needed the install manual? Part number doesnt work so WTF?

Tha01cav,

I did the install of my S/C like a month ago but I was just hoping to get my hands on the nice color booklet to have instead of the crappy photocopied instructions. Who or where would I find one of these. I dont know if that part number you listed above is the correct part number as I dont have my photocopied manual with me. But it's for the 2.4L install.

I'll double check the part number with what you listed above. But If that is the correct part number I may call GM directly instead of going through my parts guy to see if I can get my hands on the color'd book.

I never heard it called the GM SPORT COMPACT PERFORMANCE BUILD BOOK before.

Hi!

Just like you Silver03Cava, I´m new at this bussiness and I would like to install a SC system for my 2.4L but I have several questions about it, first of all I need to know what are you people referring to REFLASH the SC, I don´t get it at all (sorry, i´m not that good with mechanics but i do want to enjoy a SC) is it like rebooting a PC? (what an example jajaja) are you referring to reboot my ECU or what? if rebboting is not the answer then i have to ask: Do I have to reprogram my ECU? where can i do it? or where can i buy one already reprogrammed? Or the answer is just to install it and enjoy? Please help, I´m about to buy my kit, but i´m still undecided beacuse of this issue; by the way my car is a 99 cavalier. thank you guys!

alex

go to a chevy dealer pay 80 bucks they reflash it and you're set. they basically change a lot of things in the computer of your car. then they lock it and you cant mess with it anymore.. most people use hp tuners.. i'm going with the reflash from gm.. whenever you install the sc dont drive it except to the dealer and keep it under 3000 rpm's.

That's good, feed him wrong info, did you miss the part of his post that said he's driving a 99? You really haven't a clue of what you're talking about.
