GM Supercharger Re-flash Clarification

Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and I think it is amazing how much info one can learn on here. I want to install the GM supercharger on my 2004 cavalier. I am also considering buying the HP tuners kit since I really want to get into the hobby and do a lot of work to the car. If I install the GM supercharger and I have the HP tuners kit do I need to get a re-flash or will I have all of the controls necessary to make sure everything is mixing right? I read somewhere that if GM re flashes the car that I will not be able to us the HPT. True or false? Great site everyone and thanks for all of the knowledge!

This is true. If you get the reflash from GM the pcm is locked and HPT can no longer edit it. But you can fake a 2 bar map with HPT without getting the reflash. I dont know how well this works, maybe someone on here has done it and can enlighten us.

Thanks for the info. Definitely a lot of good stuff. Since I am going to be doing performance upgrades from the exhaust to the engine and eventually a supercharger is it worth all the trouble to still be able to use the HP Tuners?

I still plan on using the GM reflash for now. Just make sure to have a wideband installed and keep checking the AFR at wot after each upgrade or performace gain.
