Well i put my blow off valve on a while ago but as i was having the car tuned on the dyno i noticed (and i noticed this before too) but when i let off the gas the HKS still does its PSSSSHH thing but you know when you dont have a blow off valve and you hear your turbo backing up/stalling.... i still get that huge... and ideas? do i need a new blow of valve?

The SSQV is non adjustable. (if this is yours)
I assume you are you talking about the fluttering sound... From what ive found the SSQV is known to flutter (mine does it alot varying on where im at in throttle/boost/rpm) i can change how it does it or if it does it at all. I was worried at first when I first got mine on the road after hearing that so i did alot of research and came up with
some BOVs are actually known to make that fluttering sound, and the HKS SSQV is one of them. And how you describe it happening sounds exactly like what mine can do. You hear the obvious hiss the HKS makes and then it kinda flutters afterwards... Thats deffinatly the bov making the sound. Im guessing if yours is like mine, at low low boost it probably makes a soft flutter but at high boost its loud pshh and maybe a flutter or two right? maybe.. varying on what your running for boost. but if im at max (for me at 9psi or at full throttle and let off before i hit 9) it wont flutter at all and just hisses loud as hell
hope that helps?

yea that helps kinda... it still sounds exactly like my turbo did before i had my blow off valve in though.. so i hope its just the fluttering of the blow off vavle...
also im pretty sure it is adjustable... cuz i dont know what else the screw on the back would be for?

You must not have the same style as mine then. Do you have the SSQV? I have the "older" style. And it's the non-adjustable kind, and theres no screw on the back of it. Im unaware if the new design is adjustable or not.
I didn't realize that you ran it without a BOV before. I hope its not turbo flutter then. I mean if its the exact same sound you heard previously... i know mine isnt the turbo mainly because you can here it come from the bov location as well as the first burst of air out of it replicates the SSQV sound, and the fact they are known to flutter is reassuring.
Its not a knock-off HKS is it? I mean I just cant see a new "real" HKS failing, especially since how they are designed in order not to fail... but I guess malfunctions happen. Either way - good luck with it, i hope you figure it out
I second everything jazer has said. Mine SSQV was non adjustable and made a fluttering sound. My friends is the exact same way. Are you sure you have a genuine HKS and if so are you sure it is the ssqv model? Got any pics of it.

Yea i would like to see pics ^^
i dont have an actual pic of it as the car is 3hrs away from me being being tuned but this is the one i have...
it looks like this but it has a screw coming out the back....but it could be a knock off for all i know... i got it with the turbo kit i got from DerekZ24 i think his name was on here.. and it turned out 98% of his stuff was crap ... so it could be a knock off... im just worried that with all that fluttering its going to ruin my turbo... like my dad did with his turbo (granted he was boosting 28psi with no b.o.v)

ok i found a small pic of what the back with the screw looks like... but funny i found it on Ebay.... so i think i just answerd my own question... that its a knock off..

hmm yea see those first pictures you showed resemble mine exactly... and i don't have a screw coming out the back. now my question, does yours have the HKS logo on it? i belieeeeeve that the knock offs did not have the logo on the BOV itself although i could be wrong.
mine looks like this and it is not a knock off that i know of lol.. its raised slightly where that screw would be but its flat - now you have me wondering what it looks like exactly i don't have a clear shot of the back of it...
(dont mind the messy engine bay and vacuum lines everywhere - install wasnt complete yet lol)
From what ive been reading (b/c you guys scared me as i just bought a used one on ebay) the ssqv comes with both the screw and without the screw depending on age. The older ssqv's come w/ an adjustment screw on the back and the newer ones do not. Im still trying to find out the tells on the fake ones though. Ill report back if I find anything.
Well just found it right as I hit post. Found these on SRT Forums.
-If you take it apart the real one has a black rubber diaphragm while the one in the fake unit is orange
-The diaphragm on the HKS also stays attached to the body, while the fake one doesn't
-Inside there's black rubber that says super sequential
-Inside cone is purple
-Older ones have adjustement screw
-Newer ones don't have screw
-Only 4 screws holding the cover, the other 4 are for looks

is this on the fake or real one? did it say?
Lets see mine has a black rubber 'diaphragm' although it is removable, if its what im thinking it is. I thought it was a gasket.. Am i thinking the wrong piece? The screws from the cover go through it. There is no orange in mine though. It says super sequential and has a purple cone... I wanna make sure mine is real lol.

the knock offs have an adjustment on the top,and yellow hks stamping
the real hks doesnt have an adjustment screw..at least none that were made recently
ummm my logo is yellow on top... ahhhhh wtf now is mine fake? lol....
well i did some more reading and supposedly the real ones DO say HKS on the top. now what the hell lol. o-well im going to say its real i mean i spent over 200$ on it so its not like i went cheap...
Well i'm still worried because it didn't hit me till this thread but the title of the ebay ad that I bought mine out of reads Used HKS ss bov or something along those lines. But it looks just like yours jazer just w/ the adjustment screw in the back. IDK ill post pics when i get it in the mail.
The real HKS SSQV does not have an adjustment screw at all. The knock off does have an adjustment screw. From the outside, that's about the only way you can tell a fake, unless it doesn't have the yellow HKS logo on it, the real one does have the logo.

There is still a chance that the one he has is real. Here is a picture from the HKS website....

That picture shows that the BOV has the adjustment screw in the back.
Hold up folks. The one josh posted a pic of says HKS SQV. The one I had was a genuine HKS SSQV and did not have an adjustment. I do not know if HKS did at one time or still does make a SQV model but if they did it could just be possible that SQV have an adjustment screw and the SSQV do not.

What Wade said is what i've been trying to say. The older ones have the adjustment screw in the back and the new"er" ones do not.
