I need info if you feel I’m a newbie could you please just keep the bashing down thanks!
What my issue is my brother has his 99 cavi with a 2200, now he was going to do headers exhaust and cold air but in the end i thought of just turboing it. It is stick and has a new clutch slave and engine bored out and new alloy pistons, built from the s10 vortec block.(supposedly better due to large main bolts (head bolts to may be?)
I have done modifications to my gtp and camaro, ok enough with the intro!
What do I need to run 5 psi safely? Issues I’m seen is adjusting fuel (could do fpr) and injectors but what ruff size would you recommend? How to adjust timing?
Now my ideas get injector may be gtp's if they will work (36 pound) and a fpr for fueling and set with wide ban, as for timing msd box with boost retard setup incorporated to pull timing set conservatively
He is doing a budget build just so he can have some fun, any help appreciated.
thanks for looking and time!.
For something as small as 5 psi, he can use a FMU with larger injectors and be fine. A FPR won't increase fuel pressure when you start to spool. Otherwise, the proper way to tune is with software or a standalone ECM. Either way, best thing though for him would be to get a wideband AFR gauge, so he knows exactly where his air-fuel ratio is.
Also, the only way he is going to get larger injectors though is if he has top feeding ones. I don't know much about the 2.2L OHV or the 2200, but I know at least one of those motors' injectors is bottom feed. If that is the case, he needs to make or find a top feed conversion.

what about timing ?
i will use the 36 pound injectors and fpr but what about timing, what is needed to run 10 psi intercooler ?
what about a variable rate fpr?
Well you should always use a intercooler. As for timing i think you can leave it alone and the computer will compensate if you do not want to spend the extra money...but ill let someone with more knowledge confirm that..phil
well i have been talking it to him and we will be doing a inter cooler even if it's just a dsm or some other cheap insurance

That's essentially what a FMU is.

He shouldn't need to retard timing unless his motor starts knocking. In which case, you'll either need something like the MSD DIS-II (or again: Software or a full standalone). But above 10 psi is getting close to gambling without a proper Engine Management System (albeit Software or Standalone) to adjust both fuel and spark. A knock sensor and wideband are going to be your best tools for basic tuning.

The older style 2.2s (95-97) have the crappy injector set up lol... the (98+) 2200s have the normal injectors and rail. You can fit any bosch style injector with slight modification.
