turbo question.

hey simple question. there is a guy selling a turbo in my area. it is a Greddy 18G(TDO5H). he claims. umm is that to big for an ecotec application or what. also is there anything special i would need to do to make this run properly. it looks like a good size turbo. thanks for all replies

depends what you want to use it for. where do you want your power?

i want to use it to put on my 2003 cavalier. on a custom turbo setup. and what do u mean where do i want the power. do u mean power range. if that is what u mean like 200-250,260.

well im not really sure. it is automatic so im guess like 4500 to like 6500,7000.

You dont want lag to be that long man..you want your power to come around 2500-3500 rpm max....Other wise youll always be spooling. And you dont need a turbo that takes that long to spool to get into that power range 200-260. Im not sure what the specs are on the turbo you are looking at though.

ohh ok i really dont know what u meant i just assumed it be around there that is all. ok now with that set is this a to big o fturbo or not.

I've ran both a 16G and 20G, while spool up time is a little higher in the RPM range w/ the 20G it's still very acceptable to me.

ok thanks and he says it needs the rebuild kit and is that easy to do yourself or let someone else do it

Let someone else do it. The turbo vanes spin over 10k RPM's millimeters away from the housing. It needs to be balanced.
