Hey guys, I am getting a 200 amp alt from excesive amperage. And I need to know if theres a best way to switch alt's after a Gm Supercharger kit install on a 2.2 ecotec 04 cavalier. Ive viewed it from above and below and it seems like the only way to get to it easily is to remove the charger itself... is there a easier way? Any pics would help. Hell it even looks like taking the oil filter out now is going to be a little tougher than usual. I did'nt have the alt when the kit was going to be installed and now I kinda wish I had waited a little... well naa... Im addicted to the whine baby!!!

Removing the charger is how I do it, the more work space = better job/easier.

Doesn't take that much to remove the charger the hardest part and its not that hard at all but would be putting the belt back on.

Now did you get an alternator for the ss/sc or did you get a higher amp one for the cavy? If you got it for the cavy your still going to have the problem with the cooling fins going the wrong way to cool it, my buddy bought a higher amp one for his cavy with the s/c and it went out over the summer with the heat we had.

a cav alt is gonna get cooked quick being that large

The supercharger has a way of making all maintenance harder.

ohhh i got the one for the cavi...... i hope i didnt screw this up.. imma have to call nathan back an get one for the cobalt.. what year of cobalt am i gonna have to request that i need it from or will any year work? it will have to come from an ss model because of the reverse spinning correct? the bad thing is that i believe he shipped it tonight.

any cobalt ss or redline alternator will work

Nathan at excessive amperage requested that i try to get a exact part number to the alt that i need. does anyone have that for me to give him? he didnt get to ship out the other alt for the cavi so it saved us alot of trouble. he said he went to look them up and forund them for a 2.2 cobalt and a 2.0 cobalt i advised him that i know i had to have the one from the supercharged version and that it spun in reverse because of the supercharger so he looked some up and found multiple part numbers so if someone could get me an exact number that would greatly speed up my shipment thanks.
