Alternate 2.4 oil feed?
Thursday, January 03, 2008 4:40 PM
i was wondering if there was somewhere i could get an oil feed on my 2.4 that is near the a/c pump or on the accessory belt side of the engine. i plan on running a Vortech supercharger where the a/c is and i don't want to run a line all the way from the oil pressure sensor

umm.......No.

There is a plug between the timing chain housing and the block, but I HIGHLY doubt you would be able to use it.

^^^^^^ There isn't much space between the timing chain housing and the block. The timing chain housing would have to come off for sure just to get to it. There might be one on the front of the engine below the intake manifold, but I don't remember exactly. Sorry.

ok i understand... the plug is stuck in behind the timing chaincase. so that ones out.... i guess i'll have to do some experimenting on my spare engine. if all else fails i'll just have to run a line from the sending unit

They make fittings that will allow you to get at it, but you will have to come out from behind the housing with -3AN brake line hose. The fitting I'm talking about is recessed and will hold the line coupler inside the threaded fitting that will screw in flush with the block. So all you have to do is make a tight bend at the face of the block and come out from behind the timing chain housing. You could even grind alittle "channel" out of the housing on the back side to follow the hose through.....just a slight one if its a really tight fit. If that wont give you enough flow then you gotta do something different. You might even be able to use -4AN hose too....I dont remember how much room there is between there.

i guess i'm going to have to look at my mockup engine when i get back home and find it. if i can use that one it would make the engine bay a little cleaner. Thanks for all the info guys

There is a spot on the back of the block (near the passenger side of the motor). It is under the exhaust manifold. I'm using this spot for a oil temp gauge. This would be the closest place and easy to get to. Route the line under the motor (just attach it to something) so it does not drag.

Here is some pictures for you.

And yes with the timing chain housing on you can still get to it just fine.

Yeah, the plug straight above the one John was showing is the one I was referring to.
