LD9 Boost Build Questions

ok, so i have a 97 z24 and its startin to bog out swo time for a new motor and so far what i've come up with is

bore it over .20
3 angle valve job,
1mm o/s valves
good race P&P head ,
eagle rods,
dome or dished pistons?
cleavite 77 rod and main bearings,
jbp stage 2 cams,
60 mm throttle body
jtuners turbo kit or build my own with my old t3/t4 in my garage
emange maybe,


and has any used a obx intake manifold? i saw it on ebay today and was wondering. and if anyone can come up with anything else that would be great

Pistons can be found through karo or turbotechracing. Weisco's 9:1 compression ratio.

Emanage is not worth the money compared to hp tuners software.

ARP Head Studs you will want.

The rest sounds good but I would not do a crazy port on the 2.4 head. A mild port would be more than sufficient and not take away from the structural integrity of the head.

You should also consider the 2.3 oil pump conversion for better oiling.

That is just a quick run through but start buying parts and post a build thread to show that you at least bought the parts and are willing to build the motor, you will probably get alot more help when people know your serious. Good luck

how do you do the 2.3L oil pump conversion? is there a complete right up?

i have the obx manifold on my car and it works great... the only problem is that the bolt hoes for the throttle body are smaller than the the holes on the stock manifold.. but i just put smaller ones in and its fine now. and i would build your own turbo kit. i dont even think jtuners is in business anymore.

The only intake manifold NOT attached to a s/c that's any good is the 2.3HO one, save your money on any OBX crap.

although i run the obx mani i would have to agree with this. it is a much better manifold and it also makes it easier to run your cold side pipe.
