Ill just fill you in first of what will be going into my 2.4 over the next while
Ill be putting in a set of HO Cams, Lifters and Towers. All my other mods are listed in my Profile
I wont be doing the bottom end at this time
I am torn between picking up a used SC Kit or Putting together my own Turbo kit with a used turbo
I am currently looking at a T3/T4 hybrid Turbonetics (300ish) Probably another 700-1000 bones to get it up and going?
Also looking at used SC kits (1000-1500ish)
Im not looking to make crazy boost just around 7-10 PSI at most
Ive done some reading of the FAQs on this page but just wanna hear some comments on what you guys think
This car it will be going into is my weekend driver and bracket racing car. Like to have something realiable still.
Thanks for any advice it is very much appreciated.

Turbochargers are more efficient than superchargers (especially Eaton blowers), which means more power at a given boost pressure...but there is such a thing as running too small (or large) of a compressor or turbine for a given engine.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
Ya more efficient is good
Im just worried about having to piece a turbo kit all together and getting it to run properly
SC is more of a slap it on, quick tune and go
I am really undecided and looking at both
All and any help is great
when you say 700-1000 for turbo.... thats quite the under cut.
Figure, turbo, manifold, any gauges you want, fuel system if you so choose, wastegate, blow off valve, intercooler, charge pipes, exhaust system
i went into it thinking i could get it done for about $2000 total. was i wrong... im halfway there with about another $2000 to go.
Someone told me recently when i said, man this stuff is expensive..... yeah it usually is when you do it right the first time.
Ya i hear you on the cost. I was planning on purchasing decent stuff and upgrading parts as i went. So far im looking at 300 dollar used turbos 200 for manifold and then the skys the limit on the rest im sure
I don't plan on building my bottom end anytime soon just top end thats why i was leaning towards the S/C for some good 7-8 PSI of boost
if you feel the need to go turbo, go new. i dont trust buying a used turbo, dont know how hard it was beat on, or anything. imo i wouldnt trust one even if it was just rebuilt. but thats just me and my opinion. your best off to do it all at once or not at all. hate to say it but thats the best way to accomplish it.
In your situation I would without a doubt go the supercharger route.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Good advice i was leaning that way
I could always do the Turbo swap later
Thanks guys
Great help
