Blown turbo?

Well this just happened today, and I checked all my lines and piping, and i don't thing i have a boost/vac leak.

At work today, a friend who helped me boost my car took it since i was blocking him in. He went to the store and was back in like 15 mins. My car had been running just the way i wanted it to lately, So a few hours later i get in my car, and it seems like a turd. Look at my boost gauge only to see it won't go over 4psi. I thought he might have turned down the boost controller on me for some reason. So i get home, and turn it up, but no difference. So i turn it all the way down, and it lowers the boost to only like 1-2psi. My W/G has a very light spring, like 1-2 psi and i use a manual boost controller to control the boost. I was running 8psi for a while.

So after checking all my piping and boost lines I have no leaks (as it appears). I feel as though it's either the turbo or the W/G, but is seems like the boost controller and W/G are working correctly. The turbo is a garrett T04E (I believe, .42AR) and is quite old. Looks beat, i did get it for free.

So what would you opinions be? I haven't been able to get a hold of the kid who took my car since work, and i doubt he'll fess to anything, but I don;t care anyway i was planning on getting a new turbo anyway. Just want to see what this problem could be.

well if your w/g only has a 1-2psi spring then you arent going to boost anymore than that. and did you actually do a boost leak test or just look at it?

I figured it out, the boost controller must have @!#$ the bed after a certain point. The car would boost to about 4-5 psi but leaks after that apparently.

I looked at it about 30 mins last night, and i couldn't immediately see anything wrong, and i couldn't hear anything. So today i redid all the boost lines, and still nothing changed, i changed the spring to a 6psi spring, and it still wouldn't boost more. This pointed me towards a boost leak.

To test my theory i blocked the compressor housing so it would free flow, and it just kept boosting, so I know the turbo is fine.

Figures, every time I post about a problem I fix it before anyone has time to respond, maybe I should just stop posting

Thats incorrect.. its actually the opposite. It means he cant go any lower than that. For example, my W/G spring its a 8-9 psi spring, so I can not boost any lower than that, but I can go as high as I want technically.
