Help with injector sizing..
Sunday, February 03, 2008 10:49 AM
Ok so im getting to the point that i need to look into injectors. From the searching i have seen that for the power level im looking at id either want to go with 42lb or 44lb injectors. This is on a eco if it makes a diff. Im aiming for 250-300 at the crank. I am thinking id like to go with the 44lb ones but i am thinking it might be to much?

Also looking on ebay im not sure what ones i can use in terms of size and such. Any help would be great..phil

I looked and was curious if these would be the correct ones..they appear to be so. Where would be the best place to find clips for them..

For that power level 370cc would be fine. You could probably even get away with 320cc but you would be running about 90-95% only when your wide open on the throttle but normally I like to (as do most people) only ever like to get up to 80-85% duty at wide open throttle. So I am going to say my suggestion is the 370cc RC injectors

silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno

oh and i forgot to add in, i looks like you got your sizing from some site like RC or some where like that. They always suggest way higher then you need. I know I am running a 2.4L but for me 440's are good to 350whp just to give you an idea. And I had my 320cc injectors up to 220whp and they were fine probably a bit on the high side for duty but they still worked

ok...i just think the 36lbers are a bit on the small side no? I did go to the rc site and that is where i got my numbers from. But i also dont want to get an injector that is at its peak right away..ie id like to have some play room. Cause to be quite truthful i have no clue what my setup will be able to put down once its done..

well unless your going to build up your bottom end on the engine, I would say 370cc injectors will be more then enough, I would be more worried about stock rods and pistons going out on me before the injectors would.

But if you do plan on building it up later on 440cc injectors are not a bad way to go as they can take you up to 350whp (aprox 415-420 crank hp)

So you got to think about what your going to do with it. But honestly if you do not plan to ever build up the bottom end, you would be go with to big of an injector with 440cc injectors, not to much of a deal with HP tuners but it would still be a waist and you do still want to size your injectors properly..

I do not know thats just my 2 cents from some one who has been at the 200whp, the 250whp and now the 350-400whp and like i said i was making 220whp (aprox 280 crank hp) with 320cc injectors and it ran fine and was perfectly fine when tuned with hp tuners...

I have a spare engine i am building and will be looking into the 350-400 range once the bottom is built. I am in the process of the eco swap and jst want to get the engine and turbo running on the 10 psi well and then ill be upgrading. Reason i was thinking the 440's is cause they are going to satisfy my later needs and for the cost id like to do it once.

i guess i could pick up some cobalt ss/sc injectors..i was just worried about them being to small..since i have no clue what my engine will put out for power at 10 psi

Not to familiar with your set up but to give u an idea with my eco, I am running the ss/sc injectors and on 8-10 psi on the supercharger at Wot I see higher than 88% Idc

yea why not if you use hpt you can fix all injector problems right with the injector constant and have the car runs fine.

so i could use 575cc injectors and tune with hpt

Phil, when youre sizing injectors you "never get away" with using small injectors, you always go big so you have room to grow.

I would suggest at least 440cc injectors, that way you have room to grow. What are your other fuel mods?

If your going to 300whp, your gonna need to upgrade the fuel pump. I'm building an eco and my goal is 300hp at the wheels. I'm gonna be using 440cc injectors, and a Blazer Fuel Pump (hotwired). I think I should be fine for my goals with that set-up.
