just curious... I know these block are cast iron, but Im curious to see what all of you are running psi wise... I would like to know how much the cylinders can take, because I will be doing a full build, and will have internals to take alot of power... and I just need to know what my limits are with the cylinder walls...
stock everything besides injectors and turbo i was doing 10psi with no tune till my car caught on fire because my oil line busted
I know of someone running 20lbs.
I'm running 12lbs.
I dont think you really have to worry about cyl. walls. the head gasket (even MLS) will go before they will, and they fail around 50psi (not that I have ever seen a j-body push that). I will be running 20psi on mine.
im goin to be running in the upper teens posibly 20+ when im done with the build but i still want 2 see some other 2200 hit 20 psi first to see how fast there engine pops
All I gotta say is that after my build....nothin better "pop"...
lol 20 psi.....pretty broad... Yea your motor may survive 20 psi from a t25.... now 20 psi from a gt30 is a completely different ball game.
A lot of mis-information will be spread if you guys keep referring to strictly "psi"
I ran 16psi on a t3super 60 And 15psi on a t04b.No problems ever.
I am currently running 20psi of boost daily driven. but this is with a GT28RS DBB Turbo.

you're right, there are more aspects that you need to look at then just 'psi'. (more so cylinder pressure, compression ratio, and a whole whack of other @!#$)
I don't really think anyone has pushed the limit of their 'block' yet. The head gasket will more then likely give way before the block.

Thats what I am going for, only using a GT3071R. I have made ALL the modifications possible to be able to do this properly....we will soon find out.
thats the answer I was hoping for... so really, I can make this motor take a decent amount of pressure through it, with forged internals of course, without cracking the block... excellent..
