2.2 nontec header flange
Tuesday, February 12, 2008 8:39 AM
I am building a new header for my turbo cav, and I need the flange that bolts to the head. it needs to be stainless and cut clean. Oh and its for a 2.2L in a 96 cav any ideas?

I made one for my cavalier out of 3/8 s/s and it cost about 80$, if you want one I could do it for about 100 including shipping in the US. It was water jet cut also so there was no warping! Check out my pics in the turbo 2.2 forum. Its already welded onto to manifold but you will get the idea! Let me know!

We're considering having a batch of them cut locally to make manifolds with. Haven't made a final decision yet, but if we do they will be 1/2" thick mild steel and probably about half the price of a stainless one. We recommend using mild steel because it expands and contracts less during heating and cooling cycles.

I like the stainless one phil, Ill have to let you know after tax time. I want to run stainless because; (A) already have the 304 pipes (b) stainless has a higher resistance to cracking(for the pipes) (C) the sexy tig welds

thanks for the info guys

Yeah let me know, I get these made to order, so it will take some time to get the material and get time at the machine shop, but this flange is designed by me on CAD and fits perfectly, mind you it isn't the exact same size as the gasket, I rounded off some of the corners so you don't have as much material to hold the heat but the holes lone up perfectly. Also let me know what size pipe you plan on making the manifold out of, because the runner outlets might be too big for a stock size pipe, I ran 1.5" pipe that was 1.9 OD, crazy big as you can see in the picture! but let me know and we will set something up. I will lay it out if you need any changes and show you the final drawing before I send it out to get cut!

I have $800 into the car including the price of the car. it has a innercooler in the lf wheel well off of a t-bird and it pulls pretty good. oh and I have a header cut out that i made out of a trailblazer throttle body. so it is vary quiet....sneaky!
